Dean Kamen is our hero.

The Lukearm
Some amazing new footage of Dean Kamen's "Luke arm", an artificial arm developed for amputees, that was inspired by Star Wars. Kamen's team designed the arm to be controlled with a variety of noninvasive measures, and built from moduals, so that a maximum number of people with different disabilities can use this. Amazing stuff, congrats Dean and your team.

We did a comic about Dean's arm last year, you can find that here.

Alan Watts on Time...

A fascinating series of videos by Alan Watts on the nature of Time. He turns our normal perception of Time backwards with his thoughts that "The past is the result of the present."

Number 3 is particularly good. :-)

One for the Cult of Cable Cutting...

The Joy of Cable cutting

WIRED has an enlightening article on the rash of cable cutting conspiracies that have been flooding the Net this week. What, you mean Iran isn't cut off from the rest of the Internet?

Says an employee of TeleGeography Research, "Cable cuts happen on average once every three days."

Well then, it's nice to know those US subs are getting steady work. :P

Epiphanies Explained

This New York Times article by Janet Rae-Dupree, is an interesting read about how epiphanies work. It turns out, a successful idea is built on many ideas, it doesn't happen in a lightening bolt of inspriration. Good news everybody; hard work and perserverance does pay off in the end!

CARS goes bye bye for now...

CARS!

Our comrade in Cupertino comedy, John Moltz over at Crazy Apple Rumors is taking a hiatus. Now the last time I checked "hiatus" meant a break or interruption in the continuity of a work, but everyone in the Twitterverse and beyond seems to be acting like this is permanent... maybe it is, but hopefully not. I suspect John will turn out to be Celine Dion of Mac humor, and he'll announce a CARS world tour soon. :-D

(aside: oh man, how I envy you Mr. Moltz! To be able to rest... to sleep.... to walk away from it all. TAKE ME WITH YOU!)

btw... my personal favorite is one of the most recent... Child Discovered In Word Code.

Tip 'o the beanie to you John, and have an insanely great break. Let's hang out on the Geek Culture Yacht sometime, eh?
