I only asked about plans, and if they were accurate and if he used them on a model... *blink* Besides, if you ahve proper permits, and no one is in the building and you own it, you can demolish it. Follow ups: There are doors on light bulbs now? I'll post more later, but I just want to congradulate you on ten pages of this most intresting dribble. BTW, thanks, U, for the pronouncation. Yes, snuppy, they do, but I was always horrible at it. The chances are that I am dyslexic, and more to the point, I am lazy. I wuld also like to point out that "spelling" is a rather new concept in the history of man kind. It wasn't until Webster's first dictionary that people began to think a standard english was a good idea, and I am not sure it is. English is still a living language, and publishing a standard serves only to stifle the creation of new words and/or to cause the need for new dictioaries or supplements to dictionaries tobe created. I see nothing wrong with adding the "word" unambiguify which would mean to make clear. In creating a standard, years and years after the invention of this fussion language, only serves to invalidate the spelling of all people who came before (read: the old master (Shakespear had 3 ways to spell his own name and who amoung us is a bigger English geek than he?)). Granted that there are places were exsact meanings and standard symbols are needed (read: science, mathematics and the like), and when publishing technical writting or writting mass audiance I will use a spell checker, but to worry about posts and chat content seems a little anal-retentive (It's an Saterday Night Live phrase that passed into common usage, for people unfamiliar with the term). ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: ARGH! EDITOR COMING OUT... CAN'T RESIST. There are several spelling dictionaries older than Daniel Webster's. In fact, Webster's was a REACTION to standard British spellings of words. This is why we write armor instead of armour and several other differences. He wanted to create distance between Britain and the US, even in our similar language. Now, the oldest dictionaries ARE still only 3-400 years old, at least in English. So yes, it is still a fairly recent concept.
quote: Just to be clear, Shakespeare was a writing geek, not a grammar and usage geek. His expertise has no bearing on how things are spelled, because that is not what he worked with.
quote: My advise is not to do that. Spell checkers tend to suck a great deal and will miss homonyms and such. You may look just as bad.
quote: Actually, it's a phrase Freud used in his psychological theories. It was far from invented by SNL. On the whole, I can see your point, although you're missing the idea that standardized spelling makes things more easily and rapidly comprehended and the information assimilated. Which is the real reason for it. Plus there's the social factor. I really see no reason to annoy people by bad spelling (although I'm the first to admit that I'm far less careful than I should be in public forums). It shows a lack of care about your audience. (You probably know the "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care" phrase... there's some truth in it). Anyway, despite some factual errors, most of my corrections have little bearing on your argument. So it's just the editor coming out, not a shoot down of your argument. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Neo, that last post was funnier before I realize that a spare quote and bold tag went astray... I was thinking you were confessing to spanking Zorro. *selling tickets to the next flogging at 13 o'clock p.m.* I'll be a millonare in no time. 8) Come now, Snuppy, we all know you've been stalking Ron Jeremy since you first saw his movies. [QUOTE]Originally posted by GameMaster: [B]Since we are on the topic of foul cocks and meanings of words, why is that no one else thinks the phrase "cocks her head...." sounds as dirty as I do? A; because by the time you have heard the things we have, that one just doesn't carry the dirty meter nearly as far. it sounds more like dirty spousal abuse to Me. How do flies screw? A: 2 at a time, though I have seen three once. What do you call a priest who walks in his sleep? A: shouldn't that be in the joke bank? Why does everyone use data as the plural and the singular? The same about Media? Has no one heard of their sigular forms, or do they just get lazy? A: some haven't heard it so they use what they know. eventually if enough people use something a certain way it becomes accepted as normal, then most people will use it without fear. Isn't that funny comming from me? A: it would have been funnier if ALF aid it. What makes you think I'd do anything illeagal? A: it's human nature, if you haven't broken at least one law, you haven't lived. What did snupy do to jam her cd-r and does it have anything to do with her obessession with Ron Jeremy? A: I promised not to say what she was doing before it got stic..... I mean jammed. Where does the term throw the book at them come from? A: A long time ago a judge who was very upset and disgusted with a particular criminal gave him the harshest sentence he could. When the criminal showed no reaction to the hard sentence the judge, in a fit of anger, threw the book at the criminal. As time passed the tale of the judge who threw the book at him and gave him a hard sentence became a popular story and the term "threw the book at him" became synonymous with a stiff sentence. If I ate my weight in icecreme, what would I get? A: assuming you plugged all the escape routes, a ruptured stomache and a painful death. Which way to the great egress? A: just follow the arrow to the exit dummy. P.T. Barnum was a true master, he is one of My idols. Can you tell us a bit more about your ghost sightings? A: they happened when I was very young, I try not to remember My childhood. I had an overactive imagination, still kinda do, and I doubt they were real. One was a floating head with an old derby upon it. the other was a war soldier body with no head. I doubt the two were related but where I grew up was the site of an Indian war battle. Which is heavier a ton of feathers, a ton of lead or Oprah? A: oprah, but if you put the feathers and lead together you might have enough. Would you risk your life to save a strangers? A: depends on how cute she was. What is the most dangerous thing Zorro has ever done? A: depends on the Zorro, this Zorro once drove a 1964 corvair at over 100 mph in thick easter washington fog on I-90 at night. What is the ETA on Zorro's Questionarie? A: I located the original from several years back an it is a few pages long using small font. I wouldn't hold your breath too long. How many roads must a man walk down? A: only one, reguardless of your direction the road you take is always your own and the only one you will have. Your naming your son nancy? Won't people get confussed because it doesn't start with a Capital letter? A: it was a joke name, I think My son would have a more manly name like Zorro, or Fox. >;o) What does the DC in Washington DC stang for? A: District of Columbia What does the DC in DC Comics stand for? A; Detective Comics, it represents their origins and first series of comics. What does the mu represent in physics in relation to the movment of objects on an incline? A: friction (My physics is a bit rusty) How many fingers are you holding up? A: two, one on each hand Should I put Mayo on the sandwich? A: no, miracle whip tastes better What is the most important thing you worried about today? A: I didn't worry at all today What would your ideal woman be like? A: that could take all day to write down. besides, do I really have to settle for only one? What is the most deadly spider? A: depends, the black widow is up there. If the daddy long legs could bite you it would take the cake. What is the most deadly naturally occuring posin? a: love What is the most destructive force in the two universes? A: love What is the longest english word? A: smiles, there is a mile between the esses. but seriously I think it is pneumonultramicroscopicsilicovolcaniconiosis which is some sort of lung diesase. What is the longest word of any language? A: I think it is Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaunga-horonukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu which is a hill somewhere in New Zealand. Ever get the feeling of Deja Vous? A: all the time Do you beans with Gorge Went? A: come again? ------------------ IP: Logged |

A: I think so, they turned up the radio at work so I could hear it. I listen to Howard Stern also. He used to be funnier though... not so great anymore .
