I was reading "Sweet Nothing" and there was a lot of talk about a certain celeb that is acording to pop-culture "attractive" and I just don't see it... So I would like to ask you (geeks and geekettes) what is it that you find physically attractive? Since it is my post, I'll start. I find the following things attractive in a girl: IP: Logged |

I know there was a thread about this earlier, I just can't seem to find it. As to what I find physically attractive, well that depends on what perspective your asking from. IP: Logged |

It's funny how different people have such vastly different ideas of what's attractive. One roommate I had liked big guys with "pretty" eyes and no necks. Another preferred short, pudgy men. I've always been attracted to tall, skinny guys (I ended up marrying one), and there are a lot of so-called "hot" celebrities that I don't think are attractive at all. I guess the key is finding someone you're interested in who's interested in someone like you. IP: Logged |

I could spend all day describing things that make girls attractive. There are just too many to list, and so many combinations. I prefer to say "I'll know it when I see it"............Z IP: Logged |

If my life depended upon choosing a specific type I guess it would have to be tall woman who doesn't look like the first gust of wind is going to blow her away and who uses little or no makeup. I have had former girlfriends describe my type as the dykey ones. You can see how that might present a problem... My office is right next to a mall so we go to the food court a lot for lunch because then everyone can get whatever kind of food they want. The entire lunch is a non-stop stream of quote:Anyway you get the picture. Other than 'the kid", who likes only teenage models and finds anyone over the age of 25 disgusting; what I have discovered is that amongst the small sample most of the men don't really have a defined type they find attractive. I have to agree with nayt, while I will check out guys occasionally I have never found myself really attracted to someone I haven't had a conversation. The best I can say is "Yeah, he's hot" but I'm not interested unless he has a brain. Eye candy is easy to find, but I tend not to notice physical flaws if there is brain candy involved. Would I be interested in a boring guy with the body of a god, even for something purely physical? No. Would I be interested in Quasimodo if he could hold a good conversation and make me laugh? Yes. Physically, I think what would make me start a conversation with a guy is the attitude he projects. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Long, curly hair, at least shoulder length, any (natural) color. I'm not much of a face person, so the body is important. Height really doesn't matter, unless she's taller than me (6' 0"). I like a feminine but shapely body- not too heavy, not too thin- has to have some "meat" on her in other words. I'm not into "perfect people", meaning someone without any physical blemishes. I like natural women who don't wear much makeup (I prefer none). ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hmm...attractive. Little (preferably no) makeup, un-"perfect" body, not too tall....at least not taller then me (or at least not MUCH taller then me), glasses help, and most important: A brain capable of critical thinking. IP: Logged |

Hmm...geeky guy, intelligence is a must. Taller than me (I'm 5'3 so I'm too demanding here), glasses, nice eyes, nice smile, outgoing...I could go on and on. Just a guy who's genuinely fun to be around and not too critical of other people but knows what he wants out of life. Ya, sounds good. ------------------ "The future is not in the box, it's in the band" - Antitrust IP: Logged |

MacGuyver..oh, yeah. Or Spock. Just add glasses. I find glasses on a man incredibly sexy. Since I'm not likely to meet either outside my dreams, I guess what it boils down to is intelligence over looks (although neither is bad to look at, either). Self-respect, sense of humor, being laid-back are important. And some hobbies similar to mine (computers, reading, writing, etc.) Someone who does not scoff at Star Trek (I hate when people look at me funny when they find out I like Star Trek). Someone who has a job.... Someone who wouldn't mind reading my stories. This is starting to sound like a Personals ad. IP: Logged |

Spok and stories? Wouldn't he think that reading the stories are a illogical waste of time? I am noticing that glasses seem to be a plus for both geeks and geekettes. I am wondering if there is a reason, perhaps glasses look smart and add an ambiance of the intelligence that we geeks tend to seek. I think that is why I also find attractive high forheads. Is, perhaps, looking inteligent or intlectual part of being sexy to a geek(ette)? That isn't to say that potential mates also require the real attribute of inteligence. IP: Logged |

Hmmm... well.. I'm about as geeky as a girl can be, but I've got 20/20 vision. Does this mean I'm not staring at my screen hard enough? Should I go out and buy some glasses without frames? Does my lack of cute, dorky frames exclude me from the sight of a potential geek-husband?! This is troubling... PS> Guys holding a TiBook or an iPod are always cute... IP: Logged |

hmmmmm, let's see! I have gone out with guys older and younger than me. I have gone out with beautiful men and men well, by society's standards, that are on the other end. AND! I think it's bull when people think badly of those who happen to fit society's standards. It's just as bad when people think badly of those who don't. I have gone out with body builder guys and geeks! O.K. sorry. Back to the point. What do they all have in common? Talent! It is a talented man that can get and keep my attention. I care not if you are this or that, but if you can intrigue me (sadly it's getting to be, if you can intrigue me in the least.) P.S. The older I get, the more I appreciate young talented bucks .. heehee P.P.S. If I met Britney and she could keep my attention ... well, I wouldn't mind having a go! ... double heehee IP: Logged |

I don't think that any geek would exclude you from their list of possible mates for not having glasses, nico. My point was just that it seems that both geeks and geek girls seem to think of glasses as physically attractive. I suppose you could get glasses without lenses, but I think that you'd be discovered when someone notices no glare from the florecent lights. Darn it, I was going to say Hamlet. IP: Logged |

lord, it's hard to pinpoint what exactly i find attractive in a bird....probably someone with smarts and a few shared interests. lookswise, the only things i seem to go for consistently are shorter, dark hair and a brain....a figure doesn't hurt either. there's something kind of exotic about a dark haired woman. pretty much i'm into geek girls and asian girls. something about those eyes.... ------------------ IP: Logged |

Don't wear fake glasses to try to impress someone. Fake = big turn-off. Also, some women look a lot better without their glasses on, whereas with other women, glasses can be attractive or neutral. If you have a (preferably male) friend whose opinion you trust, ask him to look at you with and without your glasses to see which is more attractive to him. If your current frames are not a good match for your face/hair/style, then have someone help you choose better frames. Getting the opinion of a female friend is probably not as helpful, unless she's homosexual. IP: Logged |

An important point that's being missed is that 'physically attractive' on a screen or a poster or what-have-you is different from 'physically attractive' in person... really, the biggest factors of physically attractive in person are reflections of personality, things like the eyes being alert, the way a person moves when they aren't aware they're being watched, and so on, are reflections of a person's state of health, how self-confident they are or aren't, and so on, and that can quickly reverse what seems attractive from a photo (or on the screen where the attitudes are artificial semblances of what people want to see...) ... and, fwiw, remember that self-confidence is sexy but arrogance is not. It need not even be anything about the person's looks that you find irresistably attractive. I myself have had a weakness for girls with foreign accents...some of which, in the past, have included Russian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Romanian, Venezuelan, French, Spanish, and Texan. IP: Logged |

Another combination that's generally attractive is someone of mixed Asian and non-Asian descent. One girl I knew in college was half Mexican and half Korean, and she was gorgeous. Another girl I knew was half Japanese and half Irish. She had long black hair and freckles. A devastating combination. It works for guys, too...my former boss is of mixed Chinese and French descent, and my wife considers him quite attractive...and his sister isn't bad-looking, either. IP: Logged |

intelligence & mindset are most important to me, lookwise its difficult to say, if i like what i see, i like it. might be a telling point but all ladies but one ive had anything to do with were blonde. having a penchant for black leather sets my motor revving, although i dont like makeup in general, if its black or blue/purple... accents dont do anything for me one way or another, as long as what is said is clear. that was my 2 cents worth IP: Logged |

Another combination I find attractive is Native American / White. Maybe because I am. I'm 1/16 Cherokee (all I got was the hair and a bit of the nose ) and French (mostly, although my mother's great, great grandfather was named Gonzege Helman ). ------------------ IP: Logged |

I like women with personality and intelligence! By that I mean, someone who is capable of having a stimulating conversation, doesn't take themselves too seriously, have a wider view of the world, etc. I like kindness, not meanness. I like sense of humor. I like sarcasm. I also like women with some meat on em. Nothing against skinny women, it's just a personal preference. IP: Logged |

oh my gosh, it happened. You like girls with more meat because they are softer to snuggle with? I mean a girl with no meat when you went to snuggle with her you would be uncomfortable.
