Yeah, I was just reading over this section (page 3), and sorry TT, but Neotatsu is right - M$ means Microsoft (think M$=MS, except greedy). I don't really follow sports at all, but occasionally gloat about the Yank's victories, though they are really quite ridiculous. Most people here hate them, and I find myself doing the same, since they are so conceited, and greedy (read: the YES network). IP: Logged |

Do you know if she has dynamic or static IP? If there is a ban on the site for someone else with her ISP, it is conceivable that, with dynamic IP, it could be blocking her instead just from her having the same IP for a session. Twice seems too far fetched, but I had to deal with this on IRC once. This ban seems to have lasted a few days, as before, so I can only wonder - why in hell's name is the site randomly setting bans on her IP? - Uilleann IP: Logged |

It is even more conceivable if they didn't look up the block of IPs from which she connects (especially if she uses the same dialup number all the time). If they did look up the bock of IPs that user X (the person who offended them), and the IP that she draws happens to be in that block, the best thing to do would be to change dial up numbers (diffrent server, diffrent block of IPs). Just a thought, and may not work if they did just block anything that begins with xxx.xxx. ... ------------------ IP: Logged |

Setting bans is a tricky process at best. With IRC, you can at least try and block their nick/username/hostmask combination, but the former two can be changed, and the latter can't be set too precisely else it could block other users who find themselves with that IP. In the case of the problem on IRC, I just got the person to try dialling up again, and all was well. Quoting GameMaster and may not work if they did just block anything that begins with xxx.xxx. ... Actually, I don't understand these so-called bans. Are they bans from posting, or bans from accessing the forums? Were they the latter, it would be different. However, given that Twinkle Toes can post under a new username (well, did before, anyhow), it seems that she can accessing the forums OK. It also indicates that it isn't her IP, but her username, that is banned. She assumed, last time, that she was banned for real, and presumably didn't go to a friend's house or cybercafe and go under a new IP. Thus, it must be a banned username. - Uilleann Edit IP: Logged |

yeah, she uses gay 'O' hell......she has a dynamic IP, she can post some day's but others she can't.....I only have a limited knowledge on the subject personally, I've only spent 1 high school semester in a class on networking.....anyway, I'm trying to get a friend to look into it, his dad's a network sys admin and he himself has his ccna, I'm hoping he can help out, but anywho..... ------------------ IP: Logged |
