"Fake Steve Jobs" "8x10" original oil painting by Nitrozac

"Fake Steve Jobs", 8"x 10"original oil painting by Nitrozac

Click here to bid on painting.

I'm pleased to present for your bidding pleasure my latest painting, entitled "Fake Steve Jobs". It could easily pass as the real Steve Jobs, however, I painted it as the Fake Steve Jobs. I painted it in a traditional portrait style, and imho, I believe the result is insanely spectacular. The colours, texture, and luminoscity are very impressive! When you view the painting close-up, it's quite enjoyable to look at the brushstrokes. However, be warned... the portrait is a little scary in how Steve's eyes seem to follow you around the room. It's a beautiful object. I love creating them, if I do say so myself. :-P

Fake Steve Job's blog has been getting a lot of press lately. For the longest time no one knew who was behind the humourous and entertaining posts. Recently, the mysterious author was revealed. It turns out that Daniel Lyons, senior editor of Forbes magazine, is the real man behind the curtain of Steve Job's Secret Diary.

For the profile picture on the Fake Steve Jobs blog, FSJ uses a press shot of the real Steve Jobs. For some reason, it perfectly suits the site, especially with the "Negative people upset me" line under it. But last week I noticed the photo was replaced by a cartoon version of Steve Jobs. I was so upset! The cartoon was quite good, but I really was looking forward to painting what we've all come to associate with FSJ. Many of FSJ's fans felt the same way, and protested in the blog's comments. Thankfully, the original photo is now back where it belongs. :-)

Who knows, maybe you'll be bidding against the Real and the Fake Steve Jobs for the painting! I'm sure both of them will want to get their hands on this beautiful painting!

Snaggy and I did this comic about Fake Steve Jobs in this JoT, enjoy!

Details: "Fake Steve Jobs" is Nitrozac's 29th painting of her Painting Blog. It's an original oil painting, on 8 x 10 inch stretched canvas. The painting will be dry and ready to ship a couple weeks after the auction ends, depending on the drying conditions and such. The back of the painting will contain the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

If the painting isn't sold at auction, it will be up for sale in our webstore at a higher than originally listed price, so it does pays to bid on the auction! Best of luck to all bidders!

Shipping for each painting is extra... to the US and Canada it is 8 dollars, to other locations, 15 dollars.

"iTunes", original oil painting by Nitrozac *SOLD*

This painting has sold ($430.00), and will now reside in intenselygreen's collection! Click here to view the Auction.

iTunes! Who would've thought an application would change our world so much? Originally developed by Jeff Robbin and Bill Kincaid as an MP3 player called SoundJam MP, it was bought by Apple in the year 2000 and the rest is history. Think about it, iTunes has taken our collective geeky consciousness to where it is today... jammed packed full of iPods, podcasts, the freaky visualiser, movies, and now the iPhone. It introduced a profitable solution to pirating that is convenient for customers... just 99 cents a pop song, and in the process, has made Apple a powerhouse again.

With the recent announcement of over 3 billion songs sold via iTunes, I decided to do something to commemorate. I love iTunes, and I love its icon, so I painted it, expressing my love for it. You probably love iTunes too, and you'll definitely love the oil painting!

The iTunes icon has taken on a couple different looks over the years. I've painted the current one, with the blue eight notes. This painting is 11 x 14 inches... it's the biggest I've done so far and I it looks AMAZING. It's big and glorious and gorgeous! :)

Snaggy and I did this comic about iTunes starring the iTunes logo (and many more iTunes comics) in this JoT, enjoy!

Details: "iTunes" is Nitrozac's 28th paintng of her Painting Blog. It's an oil painting, on 11 x 14 inch stretched canvas. As it is oil paint, it will take a couple of weeks to dry completely. The painting will likely be ready to ship two weeks after the auction ends. The back of the painting will contain the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

Best of luck to all bidders!

Shipping for each painting is extra... to the US and Canada it is 8 dollars, to other locations, 15 dollars.

"Jobs & Gates at D5" original painting by Nitrozac *SOLD*

This painting has sold ($290.00), and is now in the collection of pvmuir! Thanks pv! Click here to view the auction.

"Jobs & Gates at D5", 8"x 10"acrylic painting by Nitrozac

Click here to view the auction.

This lovely painting immortalizes, on canvas, the monumentous event that took place at D5, ( All Things Digital Conference). Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher hosted the event and its highlight was when they brought together, onstage, at the same time, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. The Internet was a-buzz at the thought of these two rivals together, and how this meeting would play out. Of course, as it turned out, everyone was ethralled by the way Jobs and Gates reminisced and joked together onstage. Personally I would have loved to have seen them have a big fist fight, but, that peaceful scene at D5 was pretty cool too. Now they seem to be the best of frenemies.

This moment has been encapsulized as art for some lucky bidder to enjoy forever. It shows Steve Jobs talking in his animated, hand-gesturing way, and Bill Gates listening with a slightly wistful, sentimental expression. Jobs is wearing his trademark black turtleneck and jeans, Gates looks comfortable in his crisp shirt and dress pants. It depicts a strangely heartwarming scene; it shows how two of the world's greatest geeks can stop for a moment in their extraordinary lives and put petty competitiveness aside and entertain some of us ordinary-everyday geeks for a while.

Snaggy and I did a comic about Jobs and Gates at D5 in this JoT, enjoy!

Details: "Jobs & Gates at D5" is Nitrozac's 27th painting of her Painting Blog. It's an acrylic painting, on 8 x 10 inch stretched canvas. The painting will be dried and ready to ship at the auction's end. The back of the painting will contain the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

If the painting isn't sold at auction, it will be up for sale in our webstore at a higher than originally listed price, so it does pays to bid on the auction! Best of luck to all bidders!

iCal, 8x10 inch acrylic painting *SOLD*

This painting was sold ($202.00), and is now in the collection of pvmuir! Click here to view the auction.

"iCal" is the 26th painting of my Painting Blog. iCal Day is July 17, that's the date that appears on iCal's application icon. When iCal is launched, its icon in the Dock automatically changes to display the current date. So July 17th is the only day of the year where iCal's icon doesn't have to update. That makes July 17 a special day to us Mac Geeks. (July 17, 2002 is the day Steve Jobs announced iCal, at MacWorld NYC.)

What better way to celebrate iCal Day than to do a painting of the iCal icon? Of course, the iCal icon looks absolutely beautiful as a painting, I must humbly admit. You can hang it on your wall and admire of it as work of art, a representation of the Mystery of Time, and a reminder of how quickly these wonderful days of ours pass. Of course it also functions as a calendar with an amazing once-a-year accuracy. :P

Details: acrylic painting, 8" x 10", stretched canvas on frame.

The back of each painting will contain the title, the date painted, my signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

Steve Jobs and the apple, 5" x 7" oil *SOLD*

The painting has sold! Thanks! Click here to view the auction!

"Steve Jobs and the apple" is the 25th painting of my Painting A Day Blog. This portrait is a bit of a departure from my usual style, and my first attempt at a more Classical portrait style. So what better portrait to start with than Steve Jobs in the prime of his youth, dressing to impress, with that "I'm changing the world" confidence. He has a mischievous look and a luminous glow about him, and seems to be tempting the viewer with the apple... just one "byte" and your soul will be his! (Today he gets that same effect with an iPhone :-D) This painting was a ton of fun to paint, and I'm really happy with the results.

Details: Oil painting, 5" x 7", on canvas board. Painting will ship once the oil paint is completely dry... that will be about 5 days after the auction ends.

The back of each painting will contain the title, the date painted, my signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

iPod Shuffle, 4"x4" acrylic painting. SOLD!

These little beauties were all sold!

Click here to view the auction!

I love my iPod Shuffle, it's so small and so beautiful, I just had to create a painting of it! "iPod Shuffle" is the 24rd painting of my Painting A Day Blog. I painted it life-size, on a white background, paying meticulous attention to the fine detailing of this teeny tiny music marvel. It's painted using metalic silver paints too, which really capture the spirit of the cool brushed aluminum surface of the Shuffle.

This auction is a little different as I am offering three 4 x 4 inch paintings of the same subject. This is partly due to popular requests (people are so disappointed when they don't win a painting) and also because the Shuffle is just so darn fun to paint!

How it works is like this. There are three Shuffle paintings available. The photos are from the first Shuffle painting. It happens to be silver, as mine is silver. Additional paintings will be nearly identical, only I will also offer the two highest bidders color options, that is, if they want a blue Shuffle in the painting, I will paint that. Or if they want the pink Shuffle, I'll paint the pink one.... you get the drift. If the first two winning bidders do not choose the Silver Shuffle, it will go to the third bidder.

This painting is on a 4" x 4" canvas panel, painted with metalic acrylic paints.

The back of each painting will contain the title, the date painted, my signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

"iPhone" 7"x9" acrylic painting by Nitrozac *SOLD*

This painting has sold! Thank you, doc.fb!

Click here to view the bidding.

You can't get a real iPhone yet, but you can get this painting of an iPhone! "iPhone" is the 23rd painting of my Painting A Day Blog. I painted it life-size, on a black background. I paid meticulous attention to the fine detailing of those teeny tiny icons. The iPhone is a superb subject to have painted. It's colourful, playful, a real techno-beauty! It's going to look gorgeous on a lucky geek's wall.

This painting is on 7" x 9" canvas panel, and I used acrylic paints. If the painting isn't sold at auction, it will be up for sale at a higher than originally listed price, so it does pays to bid on the auction! Best of luck to all bidders!

Shipping for each painting is extra... to the US and Canada it is 8 dollars, to other locations, 15 dollars. The back of each painting will contain the title, the date painted, my signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

Be sure to check out the Joy of Tech, created by Snaggy and I, it's free and three times a week, see you there!

"Jobs with iPhone" 7"x 9" acrylic by Nitrozac *SOLD!*

This painting was sold at a very exciting auction... thanks to all who bid, and to the winner, pdantic!

Announcing my 22nd painting of my Painting A Day Blog! Your eyes are not deceiving you, this painting is of the mighty Steve Jobs holding up the freshly revealed iPhone! It is an occasion deserving of immortalization, so that's what I did, with paint on canvas. :-D This painting is filled with that goose-bump moment when Jobs unleashed the iPhone at MacWorld Expo 2007. Deep down you know the iPhone is going to be as big. This painting encapulates that techno-moment in history, and now it can be yours to grace your walls and feast your eyes upon.

The painting is on a 7"x 9" stretched canvas. It has a substantial edge and raises the standard of quality of my paintings. A stretched canvas painting can be hung without a frame, which is a convenient option. Best of luck to all the bidders!

If the painting isn't sold at auction, it will be up for sale at a higher than originally listed price, so it does pays to bid on the auction! Thank you!

"Dogcow and her Puppies", 7"x 9"acrylic painting by Nitrozac

Click here to buy the painting in our webstore.

Oh Look! The Dogcow had puppies over the holidays! That's so CUTE! The idea for this painting came to me yesterday, I was thinking about how the Dogcow paintings seemed to be multiplying. I believe the painting turned out cute as a button! This painting has a definite sense of humour, it's a JoT comic in itself. Let me explain the artwork in plain, art speak; "it's the unified muliplication of the anthropromorphilized rendering of black and white space". In other words; "it's Mommy Dogcow and her babies going for a walk in a field of white pixels." How sweet is that? You must adopt this painting. It's that simple.

The YouTube Guys, 5"x7" oil painting *SOLD!*

This painting has been sold! Thanks Andre!

This little gem was painted shortly after it was announced Google had purchased YouTube for the sum of $1.65 billion. It features two of the founders,  Steve Chen and Chad Hurley as they were seen in the now infamous YouTube video A Message From Chad and Steve". At the time, the video was a bit controversal, as some people felt it was a kiss off to the YouTube community by a couple of dorks. Well, I think perhaps some people were just a little jealous. I think it's just a couple of giddy geeks who couldn't believe their luck and good fortune, and decided to tell everyone about it via the medium that just made them rich. Sure it's dorky, sure it's a little uncomfortable, but you can't help envying these guys.

At first I bawked about putting this painting up for auction, and the painting sat away on a shelf drying for the last three months. I didn't really think any more about it, but recently Snaggy discovered it and remarked how cool it is. It would seem, as time went on, the painting has taken on an indescribable quality to it. It really grows on you.

Perhaps it's because it documents that rare euphoria that must have also been felt by people like Woz and Jobs, Bill Gates, and other geeks who have gone from zero to millions overnight. Most of us dream of striking it rich one day, and to see it happen to a couple of geeks in their 20's is pretty inspiring.

The painting is 5"x7", oil paint on canvas board.

How it's going

I had a fantastic, quiet, calm, Christmas Eve and Christmas. I hope everyone did too! On Boxing Day I was super tempted to go shopping, but then got too lazy and just chilled out at home. The day after, I got a stupid migraine that's still hanging on, I'm on the 4th zomig for heaven's sake! If others have migraine's you know what it's like, you don't feel like doing anything but lie down in a dark room with an icepack on your head and a kitty in your lap. Yeah. Today I'm feeling better, but cautious, however, light is hurting my eyes, I'm hoping that I'll feel motivated today, and start up some new paintings! Thanks everyone for bidding this year, you guys are awesome! Here's to a productive and gleeful New Year! I know, there's still a couple days left of 2006, but you know what I mean. ;-) TTYL!

Dogcow 7"x9" acrylic painting (five available!) Three sold!

NEW! You can now purchase a Dogcow painting directly via the webstore! Here is the link!

Three were sold in the auction... thanks guys! :-)
Click here to view the auction.

This time I've painted the adorable and much loved Clarus the Dogcow. If you don't know about Clarus, then take a look here, here, or here for some background on her! The Dogcow was originally created in 1983 by Susan Kare as part of her Cairo font. Over the next few years this little image became a cult sensation with a vast and loyal following. By the way, if you haven't checked out Susan Kare's website, please do... she has some great t-shirts there!

This auction is a little different as I am offering five 7x9 inch paintings of the same subject. This is partly due to popular requests (people are so disappointed when they don't win a painting) and also because Clarus is just so darn fun to paint!

How it works is like this: the five highest bidders will each win a painting. The top bidder will recieve one, then I will use the "second chance offer" feature of ebay to sell the second one to the second highest bidder. Then I will use the second chance offer again to sell the third painting to the third highest bidder, and so on. This will give five people a chance to own a moof'in piece of art!

I am pleased as punch as to how the paintings turned out... they are simply adorable. It's such a joy to see the little dogcow, and it makes me smile every time I look at her and I know it will you too.

The photos are from one of the paintings. The paintings are identical as the five dogcattle are the same size and in the same position in each painting. In essence, the paintings are quints! They make quite an impressive herd.

Sadly, for some insanely crazy anti-dogcow reason, Clarus was put out to pasture when they built Mac OS X. Page setup dialog boxes will never be quite the same without her. But rejoice, as you can now own an original work of art featuring her, and you can view her at any time, even when your computer is sleeping.

Good luck and good bidding! Remember in this auction, bidding early means you might actually pay less for your dogcow!

Shipping for each painting is extra... to the US and Canada it is 8 dollars, to other locations, 15 dollars. The back of each painting will contain the title, the date painted, my signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

"PacMan" 8" x 10" acyrlic (two paintings available) SOLD!

The paintings have sold! :-D
Click here to view the auction!

Welcome the 17th and 18th paintings of my Painting A Day Blog! Yes, you read correctly, I am currently painting two 8x10 inch paintings of the same subject, due to popular demand! How it works is, the two highest bidders will each win a painting. The top bidder will receive one, then I will use the "second chance offer" feature of ebay to sell the second one to the second highest bidder. The paintings are nearly identical as the Pac-Man, ghosts, and dots are all in the same position. In essence, the paintings are twins. This will give two people a chance to own a fine piece of art!

The photo above is one of the paintings completed. The second painting is currently in progress, I'll upload a photo of that asap.

The painting(s) say so much when you look closely. You can follow the Pac-Man's trail of eaten dots to where he is being closely chased by "Speedy", aka "Pinky" and he is so close to eating the dot that makes the ghosts turn blue and run away as now they are the ones that are vulnerable! FYI, those special dots are called "Power Pellets" or "Energizers". If you're a fan of the game, you do get a rush of sensation of tension and anticipation when looking the painting. The painting evokes many fond memories of hours spent playing this classic and much loved game. So, rush over and gobble a bid on the painting, you may be one of the lucky two winners! Good luck and good bidding!

This sweet little painting, titled "iChat", is the third painting of the "Dock Series", and is the 16th painting of my Painting A Day Blog, The idea for the Dock Series is; the painting of the icon can stand alone beautifully, or you can collect them and line them up to look like a Mac OSX Dock on your wall! The iChat dock icon has it's own special appeal. Doesn't it give you a little happy jolt everytime you see it bounce up and down in your dock, meaning someone typed you a message? Everytime you look at that painting, it can give you that happy little jolt too!

"Woz, Jobs and the Apple" 11"x14" oil painting by Nitrozac *SOLD*!

This painting has sold! Thanks ebaxel! :D

Click here to view the auction.

Ta Da! The 15th painting of my Painting A Day Blog! It is my loving homage to that crazy world-changing moment in tech history; a moment especially deserving to be immortalized in a painting. I was inspired by this famous photo of Woz and Jobs as Apple computers is being born. I drew the black and white photo for this comic of the Joy of Tech. I thought that it looked interesting in the comic, so I decided to do an 11"x14" painting of it. I painted it in a grey scale like the original black and white photo to emphasize the nostalgic quality of the image. I intentionally painted it using the solid shapes of the vector drawing, and I like the effect that technique created in the painting. It's not photo-realistic as much as it's impressionistic. There's a dreaminess to the painting, and a sort of movement, an unrealness.

I'm very proud of this painting. Woz and Jobs look so happy, and there's a geeky innocence about them in this picture. It's a moment in time when they had no idea of the implications their invention would have. In this capsulized moment, they are simply a couple of happy geeks. Who would've thought that they would spawn a whole industry! It's sort of romantic in a way.

This painting was a labour of love; it took me a quite a while to paint. It's also the largest painting I've done so far, 11"x14", which is quite a nice size. Just think, this original oil painting can be yours to cherish and love forever and ever! I think it would be an insanely great idea to go and bid early and bid often on it, don't let this one slip through your fingers! Good luck!

"Dvorak is Nuts!", 5"x 7"acrylic painting by Nitrozac *SOLD!*

This Painting has been sold! Thanks mouser3ovl! Click here to view the auction.

Feast your eyes on the 14th painting of my Painting A Day Blog! For a small painting it packs a lot of punch! "Dvorak is Nuts!" commemorates the moment when John C. Dvorak seemed to snap, while on a TWiT podcast. He predicted, with astonishing passion, that Apple computer is going to ditch the Mac OS for Microsoft Windows. That moment is captured in this comic of the Joy of Tech. Now that moment has been immortalized as a painting. And now, you could own that painting!

I had the idea to paint this image after noticing that the "Dvorak is Nuts!" button on our webstore is a surprisingly popular choice for TWiT fans–almost as popular as the Leo Laporte button. Who woulda thought? Maybe it's the straightjacket? Whatever it is, I must acknowledge that TWiT fans have great taste.

As far as Dvorak's prediction goes, it hasn't happened… yet. Time will tell, if Dvorak is a techno prophet, or just plain nuts. In the meantime, you can own this beautiful painting, gaze at it, and contemplate its multi-layered meaning. As a work of art, it is strangely attractive, for some reason, you just have to touch it and admire it from an aesthetic standpoint. I find it hard to take my eyes off it, even after having carefully applied each brushstroke for hours.

I hope you too will go nuts for this painting and bid like a madman! This painting demands to be owned! Good luck!
