Nobody has ever compared me to a celebrity before. Well, not unless you count the joke in my high school yearbook that said "Rocky lookalike"
I think I have a rounder face than Ron Livingston does, but it's not a bad comparison

Well, tomorrow I will use the digital camera to take a slightly more realistic image of myself, but until then, this X-Files style picture will have to suffice. And I just think it looks cool.

Two similar photos can be found here

Question for Bregalad

Your monitor is clearly running some flavor of Windows -- so why is there also a Mac keyboard on your desk?

Now I'm all curious...

Because I test software on both platforms.

If you look under the desk next to my hand you'll see a little bit of the top handle of a G4/400. A digital switch box lets me have up to 4 PCs on the same display with one keyboard and one mouse, but it only supports serial and PS/2. Thus the extra keyboard and mouse for the Mac.

When there are people I know only by e-mail or through web sites, if I later get to see a picture of them, I am always interested to see what they look like. I often get a mental picture of such people, and I like to see how accurate my picture was, although it's often way off.
So I was intrigued to see on this page pictures of a few people whom I have got to know a little through their messages. I think there was a previous thread including people's pictures. But only now can I put up a picture of myself, since until recently a picture of me in computer-readable format simply didn't exist. Actually, not many pictures of me exist, since for much of my life I've had an aversion to being photographed, although perhaps I permit it a little more easily now.
Here goes - and I'll see if I'm able to work out the proper syntax for posting pictures within messages:

(Am I right in guessing that you include a link to a web page with the picture, and that you don't actually send a copy of the picture directly to this forum?)

Regards, Michael.

I think that would ruin the appeal to the geeks.  The whole point of the TTB's is that they have a thing for geeks, even if they aren't good looking (like The Geek himself).  This makes them seem attainable.  If they only go for TTH's, they lose their appeal.

I agree with Tau. Part of the appeal of the TTBs is that they are attracted to geekiness rather than the "usual" traits: confident extroversion, power, money, good looks, etc. TTBs are "perfect" women, yet their desire is to be surrounded by geeks rather than CEOs or millionaire jocks.

I had a post somewhere on another forum (I think it's "another lets just be friends") that related to this. Actually I'm rather tempted to say that this is sexist. And who said anything about the TTB's going only for TTH's? I personally wouldn't mind if some TTH's joined AY2K.
If the geek's fantasy is a TTB, then what's wrong with a geekette's fantasy being a TTH?
And the whole thing where a gorgeous' girl's appeal is that she doesn't care what her s.o. looks like is sooooooooooooooo a double standard.
I find it offensive. But that's just me.
mephi, don't pay attention to all these geeks. They're just jealous.

annie,

i totally agree... it _is_ a double standard. granted, i tend to get along with the gEEks better than i do with most of my coworkers at my organization, but it's unfair for them to whine when your eye noticeably finds time to admire a... yummy specimen of the opposite gender... when they're always quick to note when a "hot chick" passes by... especially when i always join in and admire the other female, too, out of respect and appreciation for someone aesthetically pleasing to look at.

aaanyways.. eye candy is always a plus. i prefer cute (skater/surfer/motocrossing) geeks over totally gorgeous guys... that way, you can have a guy with a nice smile and chill personality who not only can keep up athletically with you, but can relate with your geekish tendencies and sense of humor as well. =)

mephisto, don't pay attention to the harrasment. when jealousy hits, it's usually with a reason. ;-) btw, congrats on the engagement! it's always nice to see a happy, intelligent couple together.

thanks miliani....and about letting the remarks get to me...Hell no....why would i ?They can say what they want but that doesn't make me less of a geek or a TTH....it doesn't matter. jealousy doesn't give you a six pack or a high iq.......so they can be as bitter or jealous as they want..... it won't matter to me...it doesn't change me either....I'm going to still be a geek.

by the way, i seem to have gotten the attention of the geekettes on the board....ahhh *sigh.....such a nice, warm fuzzy feeling(to be noticed!)...but thats only because i remember being younger, scrawny and completely unattractive.....but then i put effort into becoming what i am today.....plus as long as my fiancee thinks i look good, who cares about some inconsequential people on a board......

Miliani, I'm jealous, but in a good, friendly, way, you know that, don't you?

Ok, that said, you're obviously hot, and brilliant, I always wondered how much the BSD girls make at those trade shows? Care to tell? I've met other BSD girls, and they are very smart and knowledgeable about BSD too, so I assumed they make a fair bit of money, is that true?

I think adding TTHs would be great, but pairing them up with the TTBs would turn AY2K into the Ken and Barbie show. I'm sure none of us wants to see that.

I think the other reason why there are TTBs and not TTHs is simply the historic dominance of comics by male heroes. AY2K's most powerful (in all possible ways) characters are women. I find that refreshing.

I'm sure Nitrozac would be interested in hearing from all the real TTBs in this forum, like yourself, regarding suggestions for new characters.
