Yeah you heard it right. On the 14th of september. ....wish me luck, people. Hope fully I won't end up at my wedding late and in a pair of shorts or my pjs. Come to think of it I used to have nightmares about that sort of thing. You know about ending up at my own wedding in shorts just kinda blinking, looking around going, who? wha?......haa haa...thats funny....But I know my fiancee won't find that funny.
Its a glorious feeling though, i suddenly feel like I belong. Ever since I found the love of my life, I knew there was a light at the end of the long tunnel of singular geekiness but now finally it seems like all i have to do is step through the door and happiness will be mine. I'm so happy right now.... When she told me yesterday night, I was in a complete and total state of shock, i still can't believe anyone would want to marry me. I mean I spend more time patching kernels and writing unix device drivers and gaming then interacting with people, yet someone out there wants to marry me!......I feel exhilarated, high, happy like never before. I'm completely out of it, rambly and happy. I feel like a million bucks......

me lapses into another off key rendition of unforgettable.....

a picture of us will be posted as soon as possible.

First, congratulations, and many happy returns as they say. Second, to avoid the late for the ceremony in pjs situation, just make sure the bachelor party is not the night before, and that you don't have friends who would find it funny to put you on a train with a ticket to Toledo and no money . . .

haha...lol....Fortunately(for me!) or is that unfortunately(for my friends, that is), I have no inclination towards having a bachelor party. So there is no fear of the bachelor party going horribly wrong. My friends are rather pissed that there will not be a bachelor party, it would seem they were planning to get me drunk, and get more footage of me speaking to a glass or worse.....The worst part is...that i wouldn't put it past my friends to abduct me, leave me somewhere from where i would have to trudge to my wedding in just my boxers or pjs......they have a rather twisted sense of humour at that, not to blame them..... I have done far worse to them(being an inveterate practical joker)....so karmically maybe i would deserve anything they do to me.....

Surprisingly, this can have its positive effects too. A friend of mine in Portland got married a few years ago, and the bride was concerned that he would drink too much champaign at the reception. So the wedding was planned for late afternoon (4pmish IIRC) and we got him completely steenking drunk the night before. We wandered home about 5am, helped him puke, and let him crash until about 2. He woke up with zero pre-wedding jitters *and* a complete lack of desire to drink champaign.

This too can be easily addressed -- just make sure the bride has something on the best man! That way he's got an incentive not to get the groom in too much trouble...

Well, while skipping the whole slurring over naked ladies thing may be a good idea, the party itself is fun. My friends took me to Dave and Buster's for my bachelor partty. D and B's is a big-ass video arcade/restaurant/bar. We swilled beer and played podracer all night (in the podracers you sat in and pushed the handle doohickeys around).

Congragulations! And for more tales of bachelor parties gone horribly wrong, my friend and his wedding party drove into NYC for his bachelor party (about 4 hours from where they live) They got into an accident on the way home(well, they were set up), and as they got out to talk to the guy they rear ended (who had veered in front of them) about 30 people came out of the woodwork and they gave him all of the money they had left, and turned around and drove home.. They didn't get home until long after the sun came up and neither the groom or the ushers slept at all the night before the wedding. On a happy note, they have a 4 year old boy a girl due in June and they're doing really well :-) so even disastorous bachelor parties can't screw some things up ;-)

Unfortunately, there will be no webcast either. I don't think I want to spend the first day of my marriage in the doghouse. It would be the start of a rather bad trend. Not that I spend much time in the doghouse but still.Wierdly enough, the way the timing is going to work out,our honeymoon will be before the wedding.
But you would be pleased to know its actually someone on the board. Its a fellow geekess, a great programmer, an artist.
The love of my life is annie from the board.

Well congrats to annie too, I just hope that you have not put yourself in the doghouse because of that announcement?

Next question, did you meet because of the boards?
If so, chalk one up to GeekCulture and AY2K

that is TOO AWESOME!!! i'm so happy for you... it's hard enough to find someone compatible to date with (especially someone who can appreciate/tolerate your geekish tendencies and interests), so more power to you!! =)

hey... you _have_ to post a picture of the two of you. it's always refreshing to see a happy couple together.

No, not really. Partially because annie was "pretending" to be in Victoria (she'd really like to go to the west coast someday and she was undercover so to speak )
And no we didn't meet on geekculture. Actually for a long time he had no idea I was lurking around here (hee hee evil laugh)
Well thanks everybody.
And for the record I've nothing agaist the groom in shorts, just as long as he's wearing his "If doesn't rearange DNA it's not real coffee" t-shirt. Although that might mean we'd have to have the wedding in a computer lab and that might get rather complicated. Talk about a geek wedding, eh?
Oh, and for the record Snaggy, the fact that mephisto's a TTH had nothing to do with why I fell in love with him. Honest, no really
