Here's another perspective to consider. I believe that God exists. The basis for this belief is basically that I was convinced by Swinburne (vis-a-vie his book "The Existance of God"). I want an honest relationship with God and I believe that God wants an honest relationship with me. The key to a spiritual life, then, is to talk to and listen to God. I do not believe that one can be a Bible-believing Christian (that is, a Biblical literalist) and have an honest relationship with God. The Bible has too many internal consistencies and conflicts with reality in too many different ways for it to be the literal word of God. I do believe that one can believe in Jesus Christ and have an honest relationship with God, but this is not because I believe Christianity to be logically true. Quite the opposite: Christianity is a human endeavor and is therefore an inaccurate description of God. The way that most persons practice Christianity (or any other religion), it is an nth hand photocopy of a poorly handwritten and inaccurate description of God. I personally do not accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. This may change. There are many different ways to talk to God. Prayer works. Submitted FWIW. IP: Logged |
