10. cinnamon
9. freshly baked chocolate chip cookies
8. freshly baked bread or pastries of some sort
7. wood
6. autumn
5. spring
4. the ocean
3. strawberries, especially wild strawberries
2. flowers

and my number one smell (actually it's more of a scent) *drumroll* is

1. the scent that I inhale when I'm snuggled up to my hubby with my face pressed against the crook of his neck... absolutely heavenly (and it drives me wild).

I like the smell of electronics in the morning. Like when I crawl out of bed on the weekend and turn on my gamecube. An interesting one is the smell of a new book with the glossed pages. It has to be glossed though, I'm not too fond of paper....

In no particular order, as my sense of smell and sense of judgement have been messed up by my current sinus infection.
Many have been witnessed from previous posts, where some made me think, wow, I like that, whereas others you will probably tell that I very much like.

Coffee!!! Coffee beans (which are tasty - BTW), fresh ground coffee, coffee as it's brewing (the steam from which much relief comes to my poor sinuses), and just in general, the multifaceted natures of its many blends.
Chocolate.
Women with a hint of nice perfume. Many use a lot of perfume, often those are the smokers, or they just have no taste. But those who use it right can drive me crazy. Brushing a little through the hair can be a nice touch, where all you notice is a mild mind-boggling smell that draws you near (It's great to be a tutor for CS course in a college that has 69% women.) Women who use anything more than the aforementioned hint often turn me off, as it's way too much. I have been in the presence of women who I know smoke, who I've witnessed spraying lots on to cover their distasteful habit - and then I smell like I've been in a house of ill repute (I just find that term funny).
New car smell - my car still possesses a little of it.
I'm not sure if 'new books' have a certain smell to them, of freshness, but if they do, I like it. I'm not fond of 'old book smell,' though sometimes it is alright.
The ocean, or thereabouts. Standing there, with one's feet in the water, standing on smooth warm sand, breathing in the fresh sea air, ahh, I wish I could be there now (and not worry about the sun - I hate sun block).

I guess you have to be a coffee drinker to like the smell of coffee. I for one hate the smell, it is nasty and drives me right up the wall. perfume is another whole thing. I can't stand girls who wear perfume, even if it is just a little bit. it makes me feel all sick and everything. such is the life of smells.

Favorite food-related smells:
- freshly baked bread
- the scent of coffee (although I don't really drink it myself)
- freshly cooked bacon
- raspberries (also remind me of good smelling roses)
- a good quality orange being peeled

Favorite outdoor smells:
- just chopped firewood
- a good campfire with nice woodtypes (cedar, maple)
- damp leaves in an autumn forest
- damp earth in springtime
- lavender, lilacs and lilies of the valley

Miscellaneous:
- a brand new box of crayons (when I was young it seemed anything was possible when you had a new box of crayons and a fresh pile of paper!)
- puppy breath (before they are weaned)
- clean linen in a freshly made bed
- warm PJ's right out of the dryer
- my sweetheart's warm skin smell around his neck, below his ear

well i discovered a cool new smell tonight. While opening a wine bottle i got a wiff of wine for once. I have to say, it smelled really good, I wanted to take and drink a bit. I am not a person who drinks at all, than and i would get fired. But i just had to share this new found smell with all of you here.

One of my favourite smells is petrol - just catching the raw smell at filling stations reminds of when I was kid and we were going on a long car journey. I always feel a kind of guilty pleasure because it's an evil "you-like-it-but-it-must-be-incredibly-bad-for-you" kind of smell.

Yes, I quite agree. I love to smell my hair numorous times right after I've washed it or when I'm blow-drying it. Neutrogena does wonders for all hair (Oh man, see what Cockroach has done to me?...naughty thoughts..AH!). I also love the smell of green tea and toast. Oh! and roses...

You know that that first inkling of an odor from a skunk smells like coffee? Strange...

Favorite smells:

1) Baking bread
2) Leather
3) Old books
4) Subtly perfumed women

So I guess I would be in heaven if I was in the company of a subtly perfumed woman, dressed in leather while reading an old book and baking bread.

Wash twice, condition, blow dry. (I hate blow dryers for myself, but it does vastly affect the scent...) Make sure any scents in your conditioner and your shampoo are at least compatible...

In the end, though, a man's scent and a woman's are different scents altogether, and most men are better off with a mango or apricot shampoo, whereas women would do well with, say, strawberry...
Of course, something like lavender or aloe work for both..

Realize, though, that it's really really hard to smell your own scents... you get adapted to them, and only really notice when they get, uhm, 'more intense' ... I've certainly gotten the most 'scent' compliments when I can't smell myself at all.

Favorite Smells:

Spring and Fall in the forest.

The sharp, crisp smell of spring air once I've exercised to the point of oxygen debt.

New electronics.

Beer cooking. (I used to live downwind of a brewery).

Garlic, basil and oregeno simmering in olive oil.

Zinfandel.

Freshly mown grass.

Good earth.

A well-managed compost pile.

Oak, walnut and cherry shavings.

Fall lobster boil and clam bake.

I used to say, "I love the smell of markers in the morning. It smells like victory." But nobody seems to use markers any more.

The dust from that stuff made me start coughing at the last concert I played. Luckily the only guy in my section had a stash of cough drops in his pocket. Otherwise things could have gotten really embarassing. I play viola BTW.

Well, a few things here have jogged my mind, and caused me to think of a few other great smells:
Clementines
Fresh baked scones
Toast

Sidebar: Nayt, why are you trying to "smell all nice and pretty?" I thought that would not be a pure idea. Perhaps it is, but I don't see it - I don't know why you'd want your hair to smell as good as a girl's, unless you want to be more pure by staying away from the fairer sex and enjoying the scent of your own hair (and there's an 11 letter word for that). I would also expect you to have shorter hair.

The eleven letter word would be an act, not a description of yourself.

And Twinkle, I was referring to the delicious fruit (no Apple or iFruit jokes, please .
