I felt truly geeky last night when I managed to win one of the quake3 arenas on Nightmare in single player mode. It made me so happy, I was trying to think back to the last thing in my life that had made me that joyous and I concluded that I couldn't remember anything in the past few months. Anyway, does anyone know how good you need to be to turn pro? I can't stand playing on the net with dialup becasue of the lag, but I need someone/thing to test myself against. Hmm - I always wanted cable.... IP: Logged |

Nope, Q3 ain't better than sex. No game is, not even UT Tournament or Diablo 2. Nothing against games, I play constantly. But when given the choice, I'm outta that chair immediately,,,,, IP: Logged |

- littlefish - Anyway, does anyone know how good you need to be to turn pro? Well, you're going to have to be good enough that you don't think a computer game is better! DaraSue might be able to help you go pro. I can't stand playing on the net with dialup becasue of the lag Well, at least you've got that part right -- sex is MUCH better face-to-face ... um, I mean in-person. I need someone/thing to test myself against. You've never tested yourself with someone else!? Well, it's no wonder you thing a computer game is better!. Hmm - I always wanted cable.... Zorro, I think that's your cue. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Well anyway, at least I have tried the chair thing and I am only saying that q3 is better than bad sex, which is all I've had in the last few months. Anyway, has anyone else managed or knows anyone who has managed Nightmare status? IP: Logged |

I do godlike in UT, I can do nightmare in Q3(with the railgun or the launcher) but i hate Q3....cause i'm used to UT....I love UT....actually, i was once planning on going pro but never did.... as for chairs, I'm partial to rocking chairs......and I've never had bad sex so i can't compare bad sex and q3.....*shrug...... Even bad sex is better than Q3. However, there a few Q3 engine games that might upset that ranking...Alice comes to mind. But I say: why do these have to be mutually exclusive? A geek couple I'm friends with admitted one night (after several cocktails, admittedly) that there was one instance when they couldn't decided who got to use the computer for gaming that night, so as each person sat there gaming, the other was allowed to...erm...distract them, such that when one person died the other got to play. Apparently it went on for a few hours and they had so much fun that it's become a semi-regular event for them... ------------------ IP: Logged |

Important note: If you're at work, school, a library, church or any other place where pulling up a porn site would be innappropriate (or if it would just offend you), do -not- click the link I posted below. Otherwise be brave, click the link and have a good laugh. Well... it seems to me there should be a compromise between those who think sex is better than the games and those who think the games are better than sex. Thinking this, I did a bit of searching on the web and, lo and behold, I have found the way for you all to resolve your viewpoints! You need to run your computer's sound output into your stereo, then go read this page and search for the word "stereo". (and if anyone's silly enough to try it, I don't wanna know) IP: Logged |

macadddikt18, don't interpret what I'm posting as saying that you should go out and try sex. And I'm not making fun of you. But your post had a certain ring to it, and if I don't post my thoughts, I'm going to burst... I will not try it in a car. edit - I have not, will not roll in the hay; ------------------ IP: Logged |

Engage entirely different parts of my brain. I mean, playing quake, im in fast problem solving / reaction time, with little actual physical movement. I get hyperfocused when I play for long enough times. Deep Hack mode works for quake too. Same with CS projects, once i finish the problem, there is a rush, but I can't stop thinking about the project until i get the whole thing done. Wait, except for much more physical movement, Sex and Deep Hack mode are almost the same for me. Hmmm. Well there goes my point. Well I can say that solving a cs project doesn't help me go to bed at night compared to good sex. ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: That was, um...disturbing. The only sex I've ever had is cybersex and I will say gaming is better than cybersex. Well, with the exception of this one guy that...well, I won't go into details. This was back in my "wild" college days. Since I was the only one who had an Internet connection, everyone would gather in my room and we'd have chat parties and type in all kinds of crazy stuff just to see who would write back. There was one guy we nicknamed Superman because he would type up all kinds of crazy stuff that wasn't even physically possible. Okay, nobody really needed to know that. IP: Logged |

So, historical evidence seems to indicate that Quake 'civilization' will fade long before people stop being interested in sex. Though I have to admit if people stop being interested in sex, all civilization will fade ;-) IP: Logged |

Now, waittasec. "Civilization" is a completely different game. Seriously, though. No, just a little less joking... That was meant to be a double entendre. ------------------ IP: Logged |
