quote: Sorry to do that to you Snupy. Perhaps I should word it this way. Had we known at the beginning how completely happy we would be together then we would definitely have gone through with it, no matter what opposed us. We would even have been prepared to cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with a herring (and yes, some of the bureaucratic stuff was that easy, that quick and that logical). I have absolutely no regrets about persuing that long-distance relationship. Best thing I ever did. What got us through is that the level of complexity, surreality etc. increased gradually, so you kinda got accustomed to it (it's amazing what you can get used to) and the love grew steadily as well so that it was always just stronger than what opposed it. I am however somewhat bitter about the artificial obstacles placed in our path. While our togetherness is well worth it I do not think anyone should have to put up with that stuff (yes, some of it is neccessary, but...). (aside) And we are both well educated, native english speakers, had done *everything* *exactly* by the book, had some inside information from a friend who works in immigration plus anyone moving from US to UK is clearly not an "economic migrant". I hate to think how "smoothly" the process would have run if any of those were not the case (/aside). I like the meeting on-line thing. "getting to know the inside before you meet the outside" as a friend once put it. It works for me, I have seen it work for others and I have seen it fail for others. Its not something to avoid, but it is something to embark upon with your eyes open. Just like I didn't. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I like to know who people really are, and for them to know who I really am. To an extent, that is difficult for me as I have a lot to hide. However, I'd still say, don't hide who you are, let people know who you are :) It saves having to explain your way out of the pretences you created, and the fact that you are open and honest should allow a better trust to form between you and them, which is good if you are of a cynical nature. Or something like that, hell, I'll shut up now :) - Uilleann IP: Logged |

a good reason to lie, what if the person on the other end, is a secret govermentr agent trying to get you to do something illegal. if you present as under age, then the secret agent can't come after you. Nayt ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: Now, hold on a minute, Nayt. Do you mean that as in 'present yourself'? Or the other sense of the verb present?... 'cos that latter version has a whole different meaning ( as in female monkeys at the zoo presenting to male monkeys)... what are you getting at? ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: why the fuck would you do that...if your trying to develop a friendship or a long distance relationship, why lie. that just complicates things, besides, if you tell the person "I'm 21" then meet her and your actually younger/older that's the end of the relationship, even if you've been honest about EVERYTHING else...anywho...
quote: um....Am I the only one who's getting fucking annoyed by nayts paranoid posts like this..they get more and more retarded, and the joke is really old...come up with somthing new nayt, or just make the paranoid statements more believeable...same goes for the innocence crap..if you don't like what gets said on these boards stop reading and posting..jeez....my 2c, ciao ------------------ IP: Logged |
