It just came up to my mind. What kind of girls would you find them attractive? Since geeks have different points of view towards most of things, I think you also have a different taste in girls. Anyone can tell me? Or you geeks don't really have rules on that.

The only important characteristic that I insit on is that they be breathing.

I also like tall women. I am 6'3" and I feel uncomfortable with people a lot shorter than I am.(not that I have much choice)

OO!! OO!! I also find women who wear glasses very attractive.

The ones with some limbs and a pulse. (I was going to add pulse optional but that might offend delicate types.)

I am 6'2 but I still like Short and petite women. Long Red or Burnet hair and Brown or green eyes are my favorite colors of eyes to look into. But in all reality I would be attracted to anyone that is fun, friendly, and can just kick back and relax without trying to be someone else. The most attractive thing about anyone is if they can be self confident.

Musical ability also jumps a girl up about 3 or 4 on my scale of 1-10 so if they can play the piano and or sing or play another instrament I automaticaly think they are attractive. This usualy indicates that they are hard working and dedicated to something.

You can call me shallow but from day one I have not been attracted to women that are over weight most of the time. I don't know why, my parents don't think this way, but I see over weight people as generaly mentaly sick. I think that it comes from some of my friends that had self-image problems so to work around their problems they ate and ate alot. I do know some people that are perfectly fine and it is a genetic thing that they are over weight so don't send me nasty letters I already know I am shallow in this area and it is only the ones that complain that they are fat while shoving an icecream cone down their throat at breakfast taht annoy me.

Oh yeah and the glasses thing. I love it when girls are ok enough with themselves to wear glasses and not think that they look unattractive when doing so.

Okay, nonsense aside - there's only one thing that really matters in a woman - and that's honesty. Looks are not of enduring interest, being geeky is certainly not essential, height just doesn't enter into it. You can't dictate what your soul mate is going to be like, can you?

Great-big-frontal-lobes....

No, not those... Sheesh, get your mind out of the gutter...

I have to admit that if a woman has a good sense of humor (or even a bad one, so long as it's wicked) She can turn my head.

I am getting to the point in life where I need think about "Well, ya know, her looks are going to go at some point, heck, mine left some time ago if ever I had them... So what do I really want?"

Well, I want someone who I can see being with 20-some years from now. Lucky me, I'm with someone who I can see that with, and extra bonus points for the fact that she's got long legs, a wicked smile that even now can reduce me to jelly, and she's ummm... well, she's got tits out to there... <gesturing>

All that, and we love each other very much.

Ya can't beat that.

Max.

I could write a book if I wanted to be specific enough. I suppose she would have to be able to put up with Me, that is not easy. I can be flexible, but I definately have to share many interests. I suppose a woman who woke Me up in time for the Winston Cup race on sunday would have a major advantage.........Z

Well, 'good looking' is an easy turn on. I can't go much deeper into the looks category because I don't have many specifics. I like tall women. I like short women. I like women of any and all ethnicities and coloration (hair, skin, eyes, whatever). It just depends. Of course, in judging, say, women of African heritage, I might have different tastes than a man of African heritage.

Looks are nice of course, but as anyone here will tell you its the mind that really counts. I like women who do not conform. Also, strong religious beliefs are usually a turnoff (although eastern religions are generally fine, and I'm tolerant of new age stuff. Its the mid-eastern ones I loathe.) as is any sort of ethnic, gender, or class superiority belief.

A love of computers or rpgs or scifi/fantasy is always a plus.

A new thing to do, but I will nit-pick on a .sig. For those of us who know about DOS, you must use backslashes in file paths. e.g. It should be:
c:\dos
c:\dos\run
run \dos\run

Now what kind of girl would attract me? I think the kind of girls that most agree with me are the kind that are primarily smart/intelligent above all else. Then you must have the requisite good looks(atleast I'm honest about it), the thirst for knowledge, a kindness and warmth that reflect in the eyes from the depths of the soul. So basically what I was looking for was the typical girl next door and I found her long, long ago.

As stated in another thread long hair is a starter.
Now intelligence, not put off by my hobbies i.e. understanding, tactile, open and honest are all on my list. Good looking is there too, but good looking to me .
Nice, cuddly and huggable would be a huge bonus.

Took the words outta my mouth S.M. Though i am partial to brunettes and red heads myself . I look for some understanding , at least a willingness to try , a little bit of humor and open opinion , if i am doing something totally dorked out that i need a 10 count to stop and ponder my actions she'll let me know, and an accepting smile. This reminds me of the Alanis morisette album with 21 things i want in a lover. But for all it's worth there is usually something in them women that can charm the socks off a snake charmer. I just need more practice to find that i think. hmm . BTW i love that your now SuperBlabbermouth : The next generation..lol.. funny

It's pretty incredible that you all are basing your idea of "ideal female" on personality and not on looks. It's actually quite refreshing to know that there are guys out there who not so shallow as to only see the short skirts and tank tops and feel intimidated when a girl can reformat a hard drive. There are so many guys out there who don't go out with smarter girls because they feel intimidated by them and to know that some people are comfortable enough with themselves to accept other people that are as capable as they are is refreshing.

What do female tank commanders on manuevers have to do with shallowness? Sloped tank armor on the turret section is still pretty thick last time I checked.

There are only two non-contact attractive forces I can think of. Gravity and Magnetism. That'd require some understanding of physics, math and chemistry. Also, I'm quite a negative guy so she'd have to be positively electric to attract me.

I'll skip even trying to say what I define as attractive... too complicated and too many exceptions. I'll just give my quirks, little things I find intriguing.

4) Red hair. Don't know why, it's just so... red. But dying hair red or blonde ends up looking silly a lot of the time and is always a waste of effort.

3) Like Animals. When I hear someone say they don't like animals, it is definitely a turn off. I thought EVERYONE liked some animals, until I met a girl who hated all animals and most things outdoors. That's just weird. Everyone's got to like puppies or kittens or SOMETHING!

2) Tom-Boys. Someone who's mot afraid to punch a guy in the gut because they're a jerk. One of my friends told me they did this and I was quite impressed.

1) A person who understands me. No, not on a complex emotional level, but someone who's eyes don't glaze over and says "wha...?" when I try to explain something. This is really impressive to me. I was explaining a chemistry concept to another student (yeah, i'm another one of these high school punks) and even I didn't know what I just said. I was getting all ready to hear "so when... you mean... what?" when she casually replied "oh, i get it!" My first reaction? I'm in love...

Ok, I believe you.Which leads to....
Another question:
What is it about geeks that seems to make them more in touch with their feminine side than most guys? Logically, the 2 seem like polar opposites-the fondness for computers and all things technical is a masculine trait for the most part. I'd like to think it's the advanced intellect that allows them to
develop those qualities. Or is it the pain of a broken heart, perhaps?
I hope I'm not offending anyone, it's just an observation, and believe me, I think it's a good thing.

I suspect there's a fair amount of overlap between sensitivity and geekiness.
Sensitivity comprises of two parts: firstly, there's the perception, the actual synaptic acknowledgement of an event and/or on-going process. Secondly, there's the moral choice of action based on dealing with that perception. You can't hope to be up to the perception part without having a brain - the moral choice part is up to the individual - and at the moment I can think of no good reason why geeks should be more inclined to 'do the right thing'. Furthermore, I know a lot of geeks who wouldn't recognise sensitivity if it ran over their foot.

So, after all that I conclude...err...something.

Uh, thanks for clearing that up.

Morality aside, I guess I was referring to geeks being more in touch with their feelings and why this is true. Does it come from tending to be outsiders or loners, and seeing things from that perspective?OR just having a mind advanced enough to recognize (gasp) feelings.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Listen up, Geeks.

What attracts me to a woman?

I'd like to say, pheremones, but I'd be half lieing to me.

Biggest common denominator is big, honkin' IQs. The kind of IQs so big that if you stand too close to the woman, her IQ would smack you right in the face when she turns around, and you'd thank her for it.

The kind of IQ where her name ends in initials, and the initials keep on going.

I'm a sucker for a big IQ. Anything less would bore me to self abuse.

And you know what's even better? A big IQ with a pretty face, a curvy body and legs that go all the way down to the depths of hell.

Why is the physical stuff important?

Because most of the women I've met who are very intellegent and very pretty are also very approachable. The jock types won't go near them, because the IQ scares them away and Geeks all think the jocks have a woman like that all locked up.

Only me and four other geek guys have ever learned this

Now it's out.

That is all.

Ok, equal opportunity time. What attracts the girls out there to a guy?

For me, it's intellect, passion, a little sensitivity(you can't set your sights too high on this one), SENSE OF HUMOR, and a good pair of hands/forearms.

For me, it's got to be personality first (on a high maturity level). Then, I'd have to go w/ either intelligence or sense of humor; I haven't really decided yet which one is 2nd or 3rd (I think that m/be I love intelligence in a man because it's soooo sexy and it really turns me on). Next would be understanding, sensitivity, originality, and independence. Definitely last on my list is physical appearance: they don't have to be muscular or anything (I'd probably prefer that they weren't); they could be as weak as a spaggetti noodle, and I'd still love 'em! It would be a real A++ if they wore glasses and/or braces and a pocket protector...and those kewl geeky [computer] shirts!!

OOH! I almost forgot!! Even BETTER would be if they had dreamy eyes..uhhh!! Personally, I've always like either green or deep blue eyes..to me, eyes are important because I feel that when I look into them, I can read their mind and see the depths of their soul. Plus, I believe they tell what a person's real feelings are.

Well, IQ is definitely the most important one on my list. I always can't refuse a smart guy. I won't say I'm a genius but I'm definitely a smart woman. I like to have intelligent conversation with guys I hang out with. I won't call myself a computer geek because I'm not qualified. However, I love talking about computers with people. As long as he has solid knowledge on computers and high IQ, I'll usually find him attractive. Yep, his look is not that important to me. If you really want me to name one, that'd be the height. I'm into tall guys even though I'm not a tall woman. I'm attracted to computer geeks because I like "different" guys. It's fun to hang out with computer geeks. However, it's also an issue to me when I have trouble finding out their "different" characteristics. It's not that enjoyable sometime but for sure they're of my type...

the eyes are the windows to the soul. You can tell a lot about a person by looking into their eyes. I can't stand it when girls, well, people in general, don't look me in the eye when i am talking to them. I find it very hard to get girls to look me in the eye though. From what i hear, girls can't get guy to even look at their face when they to them.

I can't stand it either when people don't look me in the eye; it makes me feel like they arent paying attention to what I'm saying and don't care: quite annoying!! Why is it hard to get a girl to look you in the eye, though? When someone does that to me, I just say, "Hey! Look at me! Are you listening?" - while snapping my fingers in their face continuiously...it works.

boy, then talking to Me would be very annoying. people are lucky if I even look in their general direction during a conversation. I don't need to see you to hear you. I would much rather continue looking around then have to stare at someone's boring eyes. If I feel the need to get into a staring contest, I will do that with the cat. She usually wins those contests though. It doesn't mean I am not paying attention or trying to be rude, it is just in My family we were usually busy doing something while talking so we have become accustomed to holding a conversation while looking somewhere else. If you enjoy eye contact, go to the middle east sometimes. There are some arab countries where their conversation are literally face to face. You barely get past hello before you know exactly what he has been eating. I prefer a little distance in My conversations........Z
