Well I know there are those here from several differant countries that post but I was just going to post my plans for the 4th of July. For those of you who do not know and didn't see the movie independance day that is what July 4th is all about for us Yanks. Anyway I plan on irrigating some more of my Dad's fields and then trying to think of some new balloon creations to put on fireworks hats, and then about 6:00 I will start twisting balloons for kids at our local green belt. I think I can do about 600 balloons throughout the evening for kids and I hope to get some tips. Anyway I will then go up in the tallest building in town and watch the fireworks display from there. My grandparents rented the room about 2 years ago (Standard waiting list for the 4th in our town) because the fireworks show brings in about 100,000 people into the town. This is large for this area being as the town has a poplulation of only 50,000. The show is one of the biggest in the US costing almost 2 million dollars to put on. Most of the businesses are closed during this time so there is only one major sponser and he pays for a little over a million of it himself. Anyway the Govener will be around somewhere (probably in the same hotel as I will be in) and Harison Ford is usualy in attendance somewhere as well. If anyone wants to come watch it is in Idaho Falls, Idaho and should start at about 10:00. The explosions will be timed to music as well so it makes for one heck of a show. Two years ago I twisted balloons for a group from Salt Lake City so we bring in crowds from all over the west to see it. Well anyway that is my plan.

At my house my parents have invited some people over and bout about $80 of their own fireworks and will set them off in the back yard (We live in the middle of nowher BTW) with whoever shows up here. Well what are you going to be doing?

Don't you NORMALLY get a lot of people from SLC through Idaho Falls? A lot of people have family in both places.

Anyway, it has been tradition to go to my wife's gramma's house, since she lives almost directly across the street from LaVell Edwards Stadium (BYU) where they hold another incredibly monstrous fireworks show (but I don't have as many stats -- except that they usually get some lame but nationally known performer to come: the coolest ever was Huey Lewis 2 years ago. I do not lie). But I'm moving at the end of the week, and my wife has already left and uh... I don't like her gramma well enough to want to go over without the wifey. I'll probably rent some movies (Excaliber, Army of Darkness), possibly play some D&D (or prepare for the last adventure on Saturday), or perhaps just veg.

i was going to teach sailing at 15
$/hour for 3 hours this morning but I'm going fishing instead
at 11 i'm comming home, and i dont know what i'm doing. at 12 i'm having lunch, at 1 i'm going to the beach with my family, cousins, and grandparents. at 6 we're have a huge barbecue, and there are some people a few miles away who are really rich and stuck up who are launching fireworks, so we'll see those i guess.

We're barbecuing for lunch and some of the family are coming over. Then this evening there's a big party out at a friend's house, more barbecuing and swimming and fireworks.

We do get some SLC trafic through Idaho Falls but not much because there realy isn't anything north of Idaho Falls except Butte Montana and that realy isn't a big tourist attraction. Although we do laugh at the hitch-hikers who spell it Butt instead of Butte on their cardboard signs. Sounds like all ya'll are going to have fun whatever ya'll are doin.

*Side note heh heh everyone is an alpha geek so far to post*

I woke up at 7 and cleaned the house (fscking jet lag!). Now I'm waiting for my parents to come home from Peru. Maybe I'll make some bread. Or better yet, a cake. Happy Birthday USA!

I'd dance for the sun to come out but that never works. Looks like another cold and cloudy 4th.

The cool thing about the Fourth of July is that it's okay to celebrate it any way you want.

Personally, I'm gonna go run a couple of miles in my beautiful city.

My 4th July consists of working. I'm in lab peacefully cloning some stuff. I might go to a friend's house tonight to watch the fireworks from her roofdeck. It is 97oF, or 36oC here and there might be a breeze on her roof. Unless it thunderstorms, in which case there definitely will be a breeze there.

I just looked at the news on CNN and got depressed though.

Well biogeek, this is the first 4th in a while that I haven't spent in lab. Guess that's teh advantge to going home. I couldn't get to lab from here if my life depended on it. Which is too bad in a way, 'cuz I've got a boatload of assays to do...

i love thunderstorms!! they humble me and make me think abot how much i love my friends... i tend to overlook some issues when i have rain come down and wash away the filth of the city. at least it aint acid rain yet..

Well I only twisted abou 400 balloons for the kids but I had fun anyway. Made lots of red blue and clear (for white) hats, dogs, cats ... anyway The oddest groupd I twisted for was a group that had come up to Idaho from LA I guess and they thought I was there to make fun of them or something when I tried to give the balloons away for free. The one guy came up to me (he was African American) and said I'll take 7 of the black ones, and his wife goes no no no they don't serve that color here. Anyway I didn't know if I should feel uncomfortable or what but I had fun and gave balloons to all the kids in the area. I figure if I gave away 400 balloons I probably gave away 150 balloon creations. I never even got half way around our green belt so I think about 5 more balloons twisters would have helped with the crowds. Made almost as much in tips as I spent to buy the balloons so all in all it was a good day.
