Blockbuster claims that I failed to return a DVD. They are in error. That's bad, but it happens. They are rude and inefficient, which is as avoidable as it is inexcusable.

I encourage you to get your videos from somewhere else than Blockbuster. I'll happily go across town to a good store.

If my complaint inspires you to cut up your Blockbuster card in front of an especially clueless clerk, please let me know. If you want to tell this particular store that you heard that they are circus clowns but not funny like circus clowns, their number is 206 522 0397. (Don't bother asking for the manager, he may not even exist.)

You can call Kristi at 206 568 2100. She's a middle level manager of some sort. You can also call 206 748 0800 and leave a message at their district office.

It would be swell if you could take a moment to pass this along to your video renting friends. Let's not encourage the corporate entity that has created this slackerly and cynical environment.

(Sorry to be a downer, but there's so little to be done with reason!)

Gee, it never happen to me before. Expect once, when I turn movie just few mintues before noon being expire. Later, on other day when I decide go to Blockbuster Video (BBV) and rent some movie. And the clerk scan my member card and it appear that it charge me for late fee. I asked for proof and she print out and saw that movie actually check in at 11:58am. Therefore, she wavier the late fee and I get free rent movie.

I wouldn't go to BustBlocker in the first place; they censor their movies, or at least the ones they feel are too "racy" for their blue-nosed tastes. Worse: they get the studios to censor their movies for them specifically. (That's why the "BustBlocker" moniker is a little more apropos; geddit?)

A few weeks ago someone asked what we would do if we knew we only had one day to live. I said that I would steal a bulldozer and destroy the local walmart (ala Josee Bove, or however you spell his name), but if this happens to me, after what you have said, I'll make sure to destroy blockbuster while i'm at it.

I've never had anything but bad service from SchlockLuster. The only question is to what degree they are going to sink. At no less than five different locations, I've:

- been overcharged for rentals
- been overcharged for returns
- been told to my face that I am a "lying bastard"
- been sent to collections because I refuse to pay a documentibly erronious late fee

I'd rather not rent videos at all than do business with SchlockLuster. Never again.

I want you to live! I want you to bulldoze Blockbuster! Darn these conflicts. Well, in any case, you rock for the nice thought.

Blockbuster issue resolved by Higher Power. No, the manager wasn't hit by a bus (although that would be altogether acceptable), my girlfriend paid the store a visit. There were no problems after that.

Personally, I recommend Netflix. They have a HUGE collection, with almost every DVD known to man, unlike Blockbuster. I doubt that you can get Lain from your local Blockbuster. The only issue with Netflix is the subscription cost, and the time lag for delivery. But you can keep them out as long as you want. And I'm grandfathered in to the $19.95 a month for 4 out at any time, whereas the new rate is $19.95/mo. for 3.

But I own Lain on VHS... and as soon as the tapes wear out (by the end of the year probably) I'll be getting it on DVD... the rental costs would be staggering if I rented it!

You know what else is irritating about Blockbuster? The adverts. At least on British TV. They have 'happy family' panpipes playing in the background, and every house where people are watching a blockbuster rental glows in divine light.

This is scary. Blockbuster are trying to set themselves up as God! What's next, bugging devices on every rented video in the land?!

And, have you noticed, they never let you get more than six videos out at a time? Sometimes you need a little r&r, even if that means watching all the Police Academy films in a row. And there are seven of those.

This has got to stop.

Support your local indie video rentals place! It's places like blockbuster that put them out of business. Plus, you'll get better service and sometimes cheaper prices.

BTW, Skylar, there IS a reason on the movie limit... There are a lot of people out there that think a video store is a cheap place to buy movies-- they'll rent several new movies, then not return them. And when new movies cost about $80 apiece, that really can hurt a business. I've been there, more than once, and that's why we now have a limit. It's the few bad apples that make it a pain for everyone else.

heh heh my whole family just doesn't return our movies. It is sad and we have probably paid more in fines than any other small group of humans in the universe. We tend to rent from our local place though where after $20 in fines they just stop raising the fine and if we need to we can give them a bale of hay to pay for the debts once they hit about $100

am i the only one who notices BBV's lame tactics of pushing movies that suck. it'll be some new piece of poop movie that has half the shelf devoted to it, yet there is only one more available.

oh no! it must be good, so many are gone! i must get the last one!

What really sucks is that my local blockbuster will only let you rent 2 DVD's at once. Watching 7 movies in a row is a bit too much for me, but 3 or 4 is no problem. Why god why?

No no. Were you thinking of the "8)"? It's a smiley face with big eyes, like in awe or something. Just that your girlfriend sounds enviable :)

Not that I see why me thinking that she was fat would get you in trouble...

As far as Blockbuster video is concerned, I've never rented any videos, but I've watched a few at a friend's house which they've got from Blockbuster. I've never heard of any complaints about the place from them (or anyone), not that I suppose I would have had there been any problems.
