I have an otaku (anime buff) friend who, get this, has never seen any of the Star Wars movies. I consider them one of the better Sci-fi series of movies, and something you simply can't ignore if you watch Sci-fi. One problem, which order should I make him watch the movies? Hmmm... There really oughta be a clear disclaimer about this sorta thing on Starwars.com but guess not. IP: Logged |

The answer is, of course, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9. Although the last three probably won't be made. 4, 5, and 6 were made first because Lucas felt they were the best and would be the most interesting. So watch them first. In any case 2 and 3 are not out yet, so you would have to wait. IP: Logged |

Lukas won't live foreverm and someone will want them done... My fear is that 7,8 and 9 will be done by someone else and will be BAD!!!. Actually, the way to do it is to do it on NewYears, start with the India Jones, and then do Star Wars in the order of their release: 4,5,6,1 ... Then, of course watch Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. The great end, starting at 12:05 is either Fragging on some LAN game (read Quake III) or watch MIB (if your not sick of movies yet.) Ummmm... I think this pretty much displays my lack of "norm" life, even on "amature night." other movies that make great New Years Film Fests: Alright, I'm off topic... *hangs head in shame at his lack of life and his topiallity violation* IP: Logged |

It isn't the quality that is degrading so much as it was just too bright for the SW universe. This is being fixed in the next movie which is going to be much darker. Lukas did this on purpose though because they start out from a happy universe, move to a dark universe, and then emerge more colorfull again. I just watched the movies again and to tell the truth *putting on flame resistant suit* the acting isn't great in any of them. as for the order of course you watch them in order of production 4,5,6,1,2*,3*. MIB is a good movie to watch as well as independance day when you have finished them because they are just fun movies to watch. *when they are released add these in this order. IP: Logged |

quote:The Star Wars books by Timothy Zahn for one. These were agreed on by Lucas, as all the 'official' SW material out there. Most of the fans have read the books and so know how the story is 'supposed' to turn out. The SW history is now 25 years on from the events in 'Return of the Jedi' and a lot has been said. Ok, Lucas has already changed a few things in 1 and 2, unless he springs a huge surprise on us. In the books, Queen Amidala is NOT Luke and Leia's mother so we will have to see how that turns out. Either Lucas would have to film the Zahn Trilogy as written or he would make all the books published so far and agreed on out of date, which considering the amount would not make friends with the fans. Alright, I was reading this thread, and thinking "yeh, that really makes sense"... and then I stepped back a bit... You guys are arguing about which order to watch the Star Wars movies in. uh... that's funny, right? I also find Unix is beginning to make sense... and then I stepped back a bit... and then SQL, and then C, but first there was ADA. help me. Alan! IP: Logged |

quote: Actually, I doubt that's an issue. He did it to the Daly books when he made Empire Strikes back. He could do it again. Besides, those books SUCK. I want to see him make movies that directly contradict them so that I can laugh at all the fanboy afficianados of those terribly written pieces of poo. ------------------ IP: Logged |

if you insist. Actually, my further remark is that I don't think most fans would care. What it would do is create an entirely new line of books to come out that meet the new time line. And what do you mean by "agreed upon?" My understanding is that LucasFilm makes sure there isn't anything TOO whack (which they don't even do a good job of) but not that Lucas ever says "yeah, that's the way it will be." ------------------ IP: Logged |

I can't believe the blatant spoiler above by Swiss Mercenary! I am so angry with you!!! In the words of Arafat, "you can drink the water of the dead sea." (mustering all my strength not to include expletives) Man, don't do that again. What do you think this is JUST A MOVIE!!! Grrrrrrrrrrr. IP: Logged |

According to a George Lucas Interview "In his head, Lucas sees the nine films as a whole. He can't wait for the next generation of children to watch them in the right sequence. He gets enormously animated about it. "It'll be a very different experience, because when Darth Vader walks into that spaceship with the princess, they're going to think, 'Oh my God, that's Anakin!' and they're gonna see Luke and think, 'Oh my God, that's his son!' And rather than a surprise when he says, 'I am your father,' it'll be like, 'Oh my God, finally he's told him!""
