On Saturday, I went to MegaCon with the boyfriend and some friends. I got to see Kevin Smith speak in person (I never got around to begging for an interview). He told some great stories, including one about how he snuck into a "Dogma" protest without anyone recognizing him.

The rest of the Con was pretty much merchandising. There were tables full of medieval weapons around every corner. Most of these sharp, pointy weapons were being fingered by little kids. Disturbing stuff. I thought the ninja throwing stars were cool, though.

At one point, the boyfriend and I wandered into this display of model spaceships. This agitated middle-aged guy stopped us and rather nastily asked us to "please don't walk through the combat area." I had no idea it *was* a combat area! It just looked like a bunch of model ships on little sticks, with a bunch of men who looked exactly like Comic Book Store Guy from "The Simpsons' gawking and taking pics of them! I'll never understand certain breeds of geek...

Sunday night was the Weezer concert in Tampa. I saw them last year. It was pretty much the same stuff, except they played songs from the new album and left out "El Scorcho" this time. Plus Saves the Day, one of the opening bands, kind of sucked. All their songs sounded exactly alike.

Fun weekend, overall. Saw lots of oddly dressed people at both events. I even got to shake hands with Dark Vader at the Con. Now I can say I've touched the Dark Side...

Those were probably gamers.  They were having some kind of spacewar game with their models.

Gamers are strange even by geek standards.  There are gamers who show up at a weekend event and hardly sleep or eat until they leave.  You can usually tell who they are at quite a distance, because bathing is an even lower priority.

For some reason, this makes me think off Mole, of Disney's Atlantis.

Looks like (s)he was experimenting with whitespace, and in the first two efforts, UBB ignored the whitespace in front of the braces.

I think BlueOne was practising prior to posting a poem in the 'Looking for Love' / Geek poem thread.
