Nifty!
What's a woot?

I thought Mormons' were agin' comics, or was that caffiene?

I'm not a big follower of comics or graphic novels (whatever), but I was always told that the "Watchmen" series was some sorta landmark.

Well, it IS a big jump for BYU to grant this sort of thing. Not that LDS religion is against comics, but that BYU is so socially and academically "conservative" that my sponsor and I were both surprised to actually have received the grant.

The Mormons are agin' anything people enjoy.
Caffine, comics, RPGs, etc., at least that's the official stance.

They're agin' masturbation too.

(ObAntiEvil: to counteract the evil of that previous link, I offer The Society for Human Sexuality and in particular, the Elf Sternberg alt.sex FAQ.)

Congratulations on the grant, platypus. I'd give you a Woot, but he's off wandering the world.

<sigh> I thought I had avoided all this when I stayed out of threads that were clearly anti-Mormon. Let me make it clear that if you don't know what the hell you're talking about, I really don't appreciate it when you talk about what my religion espouses.

I happen to play roleplaying games and computer games, read comics, and drink caffeine (occasionally). Nothing about any of this puts me in violation of the teachings of my church. Finally, the LDS church does not practice plural marriage. And no, I dont' think it's funny when you say stuff like that.

I really didn't intend to offend or be anti-mormon. The first question about the comics was genuine. The plural wives question was a juvenile aside, I admit it and apologize for it. If I had stopped and thought about it for a second, I would've realized that the chances that someone enrolled in BYU was a mormon were pretty steep. It truly didn't occur to me and I apologize for offending.
