Allow me to say up front that there's no real point to this post. It's just me grumbling and whining about life. So... about five days ago, I developed a bad fever blister. Not the end of the world and it's not the first time I've ever had one, but on Sunday, I tried to eat a pear. When I opened my mouth far enough to take a bite, the stretching split the sore and I began bleeding. Over the next day and a half, every time I tried to eat something, the wound would reopen and bleed some more until I finally figured out that I can eat without injuring myself if I chew with my mouth open instead of trying to keep my lips closed. Wonderful. My mother, who spent so much time teaching me to be a polite young boy, would be so proud to see As if that weren't bad enough, last night I was walking through my apartment in the dark and slammed my foot into a chair leg. I'm pretty sure I've cracked the bone in one of my toes. Fortunately, it's not broken all the way through, so it should heal well enough. I iced it down and then taped it properly with a little metal splint thing thanks to some for free medical advice and supplies from a friend who went through nursing school (and it's good I know her because searching the internet for broken toes turned up mostly links for taking care of birds, dogs and farm animals). To top all this off, I just got a nasty papercut right on the tip of my finger. Typing sucks now. So here I sit at work, chewing with my mouth open, no shoe on and foot propped up to keep my lil' piddie from swelling, trying to type with nine fingers because the inujured one hurts too much, but forgetting and hitting a key with it and wincing and making little pained noises. How much sexier can I get I shouldn't have come back from vacation. The road trip was much more fun (and surreal)

Ouch. I'm typing impaired at the moment myself due to a sore thumb. About eight years ago I got stitches on my thumb, and when the surrounding skin dried and peeled off it did something weird to my cuticle. Since then, my thumbnail grows with strange crosswise undulations, and whenever one of the dips grows out close to the end of the nail bed, the fingernail spontaneously peels off the bed until it meets the nadir of the dip, leaving me with a very sore thumb for a week or two. It used to happen almost monthly, but the frequency of the undulations has gradually sunk and now it only happens a couple times a year. IP: Logged |

Gross? Really? I have no idea what other people are going to find gross or disturbing. But you've probably noticed that already . IP: Logged |

One bright side to my temporarily being disabled... they've been leaving me alone here at work, so I finally got around to slapping together a page of photos and minor commentary my my road trip (don't expect great html coding or page formatting, though... I didn't spend that long on it). There's over a megabyte of images on the page, though, so click only if you have the bandwidth or time necessary. IP: Logged |

The wounded bird routine is very popular with most of the guys I know. If you can stand all the over sympathy, it can be quite fun......Z IP: Logged |

Wow, it must be injury week here on the forums. Somehow, I believe during work this past week, I got this fairly nice scratch across my nose. And last night, I picked up a nice little line of flapping skin on my thumb when I was taking some guitar strings off. Oh well, we'll all survive. Right? Etherblade IP: Logged |

Sorry for your pitiful physical condition. Now that I have expressed the obligatory sympathy... wow! looks like you had a blast on your road trip. Though I thought the wedding cake was pretty cool actually. ------------------ IP: Logged |

And here I was expecting a reference to the song from which your title comes. Then again there probably isn't a geek alive who has too much time on his/her hands. Ooops am I aging myself? I'm sorry to hear things are going so badly for all of you. I suppose my insomnia doesn't belong here at all, at least until I fall asleep at the wheel one day going to or from work. Then I'll probably make the front page. IP: Logged |

There is actually a vague reference, there. I can't walk so well, so I'm stuck sitting at my desk and not doing a bunch of the duties I normally do at work, thus I do have too much time on my hands. Besides that, I was listening to that song on the radio when I started the thread IP: Logged |
