Cute all depends upon the adjective. There is wicked cute, way cute, kinda cute, cuuuuuuteee!!, and of course real cute. Or if you look at it from a slightly different angle acute. Sorry I didn't mean to get cute there. IP: Logged |

--------------------------------------------------------- When I first read this, I burst out laughing, I though you had said 'Crude parisien type' which as any non-Parisien will tell you is an redundant statement. --------------------------------------------------------- No no no. IP: Logged |

Cute: What young girls call a boy they like. What older women call a younger guy. What same age women call a guy when boxed into a corner for an adjective. Not the same as sexy. IP: Logged |

Ok I haven't read everyone elses posts but my idea of cute when refering to personality is something like refering to you as someone I would like like a sister even if you were simply the hotest thing on the planet I still wouldn't be attracted to you because of one reason or another that I just feel. Now another way is the young idea for looks. If they are attractive but too young you call them cute and that keeps you from being hornily (word?) attracted to them. Now as for personality it could mean all sorts of things depending on what has actualy been said how it was said and all inflections that go into it. I mean in one instance it may mean naive and in another it may mean that it is a good idea. Frankly Natalie Portman (I know I can't spell) is cute in my book instead of hot becuase she has that young look although she is much older than she looks (Well in epesode 2 she will be looking older) Now is it valley girls calling you cute? Guys? Preps? Jocks? well each of these would have differant conotations with these words and are you part of the group calling you these things? One extreme is a word like (N-word(I would use the real thing but some ppl might be offended)) if used by a white guy greeting another white guy it is alittle bit odd, if used by a white guy to a black man it is offencive, if used by a black man to another black man it is socialy exceptable. So now that that idea is out of the way you would have to go into greater detail about the situations that you are talking about. IP: Logged |

Cute is one of those odd little words whose meanings depend entirely on inflection and context. "Wow, she's cute!" --- this one you want to hear. High praise, as it tends to indicate approachability. "[deadpanned] Cute." --- Usually refers to 1) someone trying way too hard to be actually cute [eek, recursive definitons], 2) a moderately bad pun, or 3) a trick or stunt that wasn't particularly impressive. "Terminally cute." --- Those nauseating colorized Kim Anderson photos of kids in period outfits, used in excess in decorating a room or house. So sweet it can kill a diabetic at 30 paces. So saccharine, lab rats get cancer just from looking at one.

i asked some guy friends, and they told me about their interpretation of the difference between cute and sexy. sexy women can be intimidating. perhaps this is the reason marilyn monroe was often lonely. however, cute women put you at ease. perhaps the reason doris day was america's sweetheart. cute is generally more down to earth, with some sort of redeaming querk to the personality, or something physical that stands out. glasses were mentioned by many guys, as well as short hair (i guess since you look like a pixie). i, personally, am more apt to use "cute" than "hot" when describing guys. i have a very short list of "hot" guys, since to me that implies a total sexual attraction only based on appearance. usually this is limited to movie stars or people i will never meet, though there was a hot guy in my creative writing class sophomor year in college. he was a mediocre poet, buy my god was he hot.
