I don't spend much time reading the Love-related threads, but there are a couple that I follow. I'm seeing comments like
"I say that you should go for it and tell him how you feel." (macman)
"I say ask her." (EngrBohn)
"Quit playing Hamlet and just ask her out." (Rednivek)

Yet, in another forum, in reference to this JoT, we have
"'He should dump her.' ... And to judge their relationship upon an online poll." (Burnum)

Okay, the subject of this thread got that stupid Alanis Morisette song in my head. So I say:

"Dump her"

and

"Ram a pen into your left nostril"

lucky for me that song did not get stuck in my head. That my due in part to the fact that i have no idea who Alanis Morisette is or have ever really heard her music.

Sometimes your shelteredness amazes me. I take it you did not go to a public school?

Yes, it is a stupid song - mainly as most of the events she cites are not ironic, just unfortunate.

Huh. I *do* know who she is, but I don't pay attention to her or her music. So I din't know about that song. This subject was intended to be a play on "Isn't it Romantic"

Actually, "You Oughta Know" by Alanis was an awesome song. Anyone who's ever been cheated on can relate to the raw anger in it.

Maybe we all just seriously dislike the woman and enjoy nitpicking. Or maybe we just like diverting a topic totally from it's original intent.

Only time will tell!

Don't get me wrong - I'm a big Alanis fan - she's good in Dogma as well (not that it was a hard part). I just object to the abuse of English in that one song - being the pedant I am. (Question: is it pedantry or pedantism? )

There's no pedantism, so I guess it's pedantry.

No. Must be "Pedance", because of the opposite (impedance).

The opposite of impedance is admittance. Hence the sign on my school physics technician's door: 'Infinite Impedance'
