Looking into the window approaching infinity via today's daily pics, i wonder to myself? *Is it just me, or did I read somewhere that such optical tricks can hurt your camera* So for the sake of Snaggy's camera and to prevent the potential end of the world via the collapse of infinity, can someone help me resolve this issue? I think if you left a camera feedbacking for a long time, you may damage the CCD, or especially an older tube-based camera, but I've done lots of freaky feedback over the years and haven't had anything break or burn out. Besides me. IP: Logged |

The only way I can think of that you might be able to damage a camera by pointing it at a monitor is if the camera was incredibly sensitive to light (the one in the hubble telescope comes to mind) and the monitor was too bright for it. I don't think the CCD in a webcam is that sensitive. IP: Logged |

quote: Boo. That looks like OS 9 to me :-) There better be a non-G3 running that old shoe. Seeing as there's a wide variety of Webcam Software available for OSX :-) Kevin IP: Logged |

It's always annoyed me that I can't see to infinity when two mirrors are placed across from each other... even if they're lined up well, my head is in the way! IP: Logged |

Hmm. There must be some hidden wisdom in BlueAtnoid's observation. "I can't see into infinity because my head gets in the way." I must go meditate on that. ------------------ IP: Logged |
