Just in case anyone wanted to know about me and not my computers:
Female
27
5'3"
Scorpio

religiously unaffiliated
politically unaffiliated
pretty much unaffiliated
but very much opinionated
very unconventional in most every way
very unamerican though I live here
(my American friends frequently comment that I'm entirely unamerican and all of my Canadian friends have granted me honorary Canadian citizenship that I'd love to make official someday.)

Associate of Arts degree
halfway to an Associate of Applied Sciences in Network Engineering

reads sci-fi, fantasy, horror, young adult fiction, children's books, Marvel comic books, and anything else that doesn't bore me to tears (romance and self help books bore me to tears)

watches way too many movies of every genre, even chick flicks though I actively dislike most of them

listens to most anything, but prefers loud music lately: Metallica, Goo Goo Dolls, Faith and the Muse, Nickleback, Offspring, Bare Naked Ladies, ZZTop, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Bif Naked, Garbage, Chumbawamba, Meatloaf, AC/DC, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Jimmy Buffet, Van Morrison, Styx, Bon Jovi, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Godsmack, Greenday, Weezer, and Custom. That's just the stuff that's been on heavy rotation lately. I've got more, but that's enough for now.

My best friend is my boyfriend and all of my friends are guys because I haven't yet met a girl I can get along with for more than five minutes (that might change when I move to a city; all of the girls here either have babies or want them desperately).

I'm in school and I work awful jobs because I live in a small town where there's very little work to be had and even less fun to be had.

I'm a bit of a tomboy and haven't got a maternal bone in my body. I get along well with children, but prefer to be far away from them.

You'll figure out the rest as we go along.

In Fimbrethil's next post you'll learn about her family, friends, co-workers and bosses, get a copy of her resume, a half dozen snapshots, a complete list of every organization she's ever thought about joining,...

Or maybe not

Anyway now that we all know who you are let me say "welcome to the Geek Culture Forums. I hope you enjoy your promotion from Lurker to Newbie Larva."

Welcome! Most of your taste in music is very good. I won't rant at you about which bits aren't, because you're a newbie and I'll be nice to you for now

It's also nice to see more females represented at GC; we are very much a minority. And you must be very special - you got Zorro to change his (copy and paste welcome here) post slightly

welcome again,

Er... Red, if you were paying attention to her post and not fantasizing over her, you might have realised that one of those two questions is actually unnecessary. Go see if you can find the answer yourself.

I love Twinkies! But don't tell my best friend

I like it here so far and tend to be quite prolific when I have free time. Unfortunately, free time is a rare commodity these days, so I may never reach blabbermouth status, but I'll be around.

Goodness! When did I grow up and give up all of my free time?

Don't tempt me! I would!
Well, maybe not half a dozen snapshots, but definitely the rest if tempted with enough free time

Rant please! You might start an interesting discussion. I may be a newbie, but I come equipped with a thick skin and a good sense of humor.

Which bits displease you?

I already told you what my height is, but my weight is known only to my family doctor and someone I trust with everything. Everyone else will just have to guess or learn to be satisfied with the unknown.

Besides, weight has relatively little to do with how one looks because it all depends on how it's distributed. I'm quite pleased with the way mine is distributed, though, like most people, I'd like to have less overall.

However, unlike most people it isn't because I think I'd be more attractive or more confident without it. My fitness level is not what I want it to be, so I am working my butt off (literally) to make it what I want it to be.

(no flames here)

Get over yourself, hero.

I couldnt be less interested in her, other than as a curiosity.

The funny part of the joke is... it was true.

quoting Fimbrethil"

Rant please! You might start an interesting discussion.

If you're sure...

Meatloaf: relentlessly, unnecessarily baroque... masks the fact that his music is shite by having a larger than life persona (and I only mean figuratively).

Offspring: shouty, shouty hitchin a ride on the bandwagon faux-punk

Chumbawumba: drunken leering. A hopelessly disorganised political party posing as a band.

Linkin Park: supposedly 'speak' to a certain age group.. but in reality say nothing new about anything.

Limp Bizkit: I just don't like Fred Durst's red hat

This is in no way meant to be a flame. I'm merely, er, making observations. However, I will applaud you on your choices of Green Day and Weezer: two truly great bands. Btw, have you ever listened to The Who... to me Linkin Park are trying to be this generation's The Who. Hah! Yeah, right.

Ah yes, but there's a strange attachment to the music you hear in your youth. "On a hot summer night would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red rose?" hehehe

Offspring: shouty, shouty hitchin a ride on the bandwagon faux-punk

Agreed, but somebody has to be on the bandwagon or there wouldn't be one I'd say they have a half dozen really catchy tunes and a whole lot of noise.

Chumbawumba: drunken leering. A hopelessly disorganised political party posing as a band.

You're entitled to your opinion. I think that 20 years of putting out an amazingly diverse bunch of music speaks for itself.

Linkin Park: supposedly 'speak' to a certain age group.. but in reality say nothing new about anything. Limp Bizkit: I just don't like Fred Durst's red hat

Never heard either of them or if I have I don't know it.

Green Day has put out some interesting stuff. Never heard Weezer. /me has a sudden urge to listen to Who's Next.
