Here's a weird one for you.

I don't remember all of the details of the dream, but at the end\
I was in a building that was brightly lit. I immedialtely opened my eyes in real
life, and found myself looking at the door in my darkened bedroom. The change
from light to dark/fantasy to reality was instantainous and almost scared the
rap out of me.The very end of my dream did look like the view from my bed,
so I probaly had my eyes open right beforte I woke up.

On a related note, did anyone ever have dreams that gradualy "morphed
into an object or scene your eyes were focused on in real life,
right before your dream ended?

I once had a dream (I think this was when I was in high school), in which my alarm clock went off, I got up, showered, groomed, got dressed, and halfway through breakfast...

My *real* alarm clock went off.

Very disorienting, to say the least. (or maybe it was a glitch in the Matrix?)

Oooh!! That happens to me all the time. It's incredibly annoying. My mind is telling me I'm already up and running then...*ding*...I wake up. Then it's like having to get out of bed all over again...which is difficult enough even when it's just a dream. Arrrgh! It sucks.

The worst dreams are the ones where you manage to go through the entire day, complete with going to sleep at night. I did that one Thursday night and when I woke up I was convinced it was Saturday. Since it's Saturday, might as well sleep in, eh? Next thing I know, my boss is on the phone wanting to know where I am since it's nearly ten o'clock on *Friday*. Fortunately, he's a very patient and understanding man so I didn't get into any trouble.

I just have odd dreams of famous colleges like MIT and Princeton, and me doing pointless things that I hate at them, like playing soccer on Harvard's soccer team...

I duno I think the kind where you can hear things perfectly in the dream and then are awoken with your ears cloged from a cold is the worst. Happened to me the other day and I almost paniked because I didn't know what was going on.

The other odd ones are ones where you try to read something in the dream and you try and try to read it, but you can't. But you start trying so hard you wake yourself up. Now that is creepy.

How about the ones where you are trying to work a machine, but cant do it corectly.
10 years ago, I had a dream that I had to
to take a bus which had a bunch of
kids on board who made fun of me. (the dreaded school bus #48). I tried to call my
parents on a pay phone to come pick me up,
but I couldn't enter the numbers on the keypad no matter how hard I tried.

I have had some similar to that, except that in the dream I am reading some fantastic and wonderful book and when I wake up I can't remember what it was about.

The other day, I had the WORST dream I've ever had:

It started out with me looking at the New York skyline--only it didn't look exactly like New York. It looked like a giant pop-up book of NYC. Anyway, I think I was with my friend Dave, and we noticed that a chunk of the skyline was just blank, like buildings were missing.

Suddenly I was back in Orlando, working at an outdoor coffee cafe and living in a messy loft space. I heard that the terrorists had returned, and NYC had been completely obliterated. Everything, everyone was gone.

Then my co-workers and I heard that it had happened to other cities: Chicago, L.A., just gone. And then Texas and South Carolina. All the major cities and several states were burned to the ground, no survivors. Orlando was a mess. It didn't look quite like Orlando, but like some Orlando-NYC hybrid. Lots of silver building fixtures and slummy streets. People were panicking, screaming, running. I poured smoothies for my customers and watched as all my co-workers gradually deserted me, running down the street.

I went back to the loft space and Mike, my best friend, stopped by like he did on September 11th. He was dressed in his work clothes, like he was on September 11th, and he hugged me and commiserated. Then Mike went away, and I fell down on the couch, crying and having visions of what it would be like to be burned to death. Then I jerked out of my in-dream dream and went outside. More panic and people running.

Somehow, I ended up in a small trailer-like building in one of the slummy neighborhoods. It was small, dark, and I couldn't see much except a chair by the door. These two guys--whose faces I don't remember, except that they were brunette and a bit older, maybe Hispanic--were trying to break in and kill me. I don't remember why, just that they had a definite reason for it. They finally got in, or I gave up and let them in, but they didn't kill me. There was something by the door they wanted, and I persuaded the lead guy to take it instead of killing me.

That's all I remember. There were some other hazy parts, with a giant silver globe and something with Universal Studios, but that's the main part of the dream. Weird, no? I hope it's not portentous...

Do you guys think that dreams can predict the future? There is some historical truth to that, but i was wondering what you guys thought.

Yesterday morning, I dreamt that I was in high school. The classroom
was very big with a high ceiling and brightly lit with wood everywhere
like an old school building. It was ther first day
of the school year and I discovered that I forgot
to purchace new textbooks just as class started
While this dream dosen't sound weird at all,
it took place in a school building that I never
have been to before, I barely had any memory of my real
life (I graduated over 6 years ago), and I had a body that
looked somewhat simaler to
that "giant" badguy turned good character in the Jackie Chan Adventures cartoon
(great cartoon BTW . Also, I felt a strong
feeling of refreshment, as if I was living a completely
different life and was starting over again. The feeling
lasted well after I woke up. Then too, waking up
before "class" began probaly had something to do whith it

Ok, now I am getting scared. See, last night i had this very odd dream. I was leaving work and walking out to my car. Which oddly seemed to be a pasenger van that seets 15. So i get in and start the engine when all the sudden the passenger side door opens and a girl gets in. Then 13 more girls get in the back of the van. They all seemed atractive and oddly they all worked for k-mart. When i asked them what they wanted all they would say was,"YOU". the rest of my dream was fighting of the group of beautiful girls who wanted to "have fun" with me. Most disturbing. I shudder at the thought.

Fighting them?  Your subconscious must have weird hangups.  When mine gets into situations like that, it's usually fantasizing about a different part of the Maslowian hierarchy of needs.

I and many of my friends have had dreams that later seemed to come true but the dreams involved every day stuff which could have easily been cooincidence. As for scariest dreams... anyone else have the terrifying experience of having your brain wake up before your body does? It's happened to me a few times, I'm conscious, but I can't move or see. One time I was trying to call for help, and when i finally regained my voice I was screaming, scared my roomate half to death at 4am :-) And I agree that the dreams where you wake up and get ready and then wake up again "for real" are awful, but I think the ones that you dream that you sleep through your alarm and sit straight up in bed... and it's 3am... it's hard to get back to sleep after that... dreams are fun though, when you remember them...(which i am not able to do often)

Yeah, i hate when my mind wakes up before my body. It is odd. But somewhat cool. Just goes to show how the human mind works.

I prefer the good dreams. Like the one where I'm a feudal Japanese Shogun (there's another kind of shogun?) and Supergirl is my lover.
