It's looking to be a banner year for SFF. I've already made a list of 14 movies I need to see this year, all of which are sci-fi/fantasy. I left of Blade 2 because I didn't care for the first, but here it is:

Escaflowne, Star Wars, Time Machine, Spider-Man, Signs, MIB2, Two Towers, Ice Age, Metropolis, Harry potter, Star Trek, Daredevil, Imposter, Minority Report

Two of those (plus blade) are Marvel characters (good time to be Stan Lee), and two of them are Phillip K. Dick movies. Go Phillip! This makes his third and fourth movies, I think.

I'll also note that my list for 2003 is already five movies long (two more of which are Marvel titles: Go Stan!). I don't think I've seen 14 movies in a year since I was in high school. It's conceivable that I'm planning to go to the movies more frequently in the next 2 years than I have since high school.

There's only two? There has to be more, although I can only think of two offhand (Blade Runner, Screamers).

...and two of them are remakes.

Wonder if they will get anywhere near the excellence of the originals?

It's hard to keep track of PKDick movies because Hollywood rarely keeps the same name that Dick used. Blade Runner was based on Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and Total Recall was based on the short story "We Can Remember it for You Wholesale." What was screamers based on?

This year's PKD movies are Imposter and Minority Report, and as far as I can tell, it's the first time they've kept the same title.

Screamers was based on Phillip K. Dick's short story "Second Variety"
