Apparently the happy mac icon that greets all Mac OS users has been a victim of restructuring, according to Mac OS Rumors. http://www.macosrumors.com/ We will never see his smiling face again. Unless you don't run OS X of course. Where will we be without his happy countenance, even letting us know when he is sick with his frown and x-out eyes? Maybe he will enjoy his retirement with Clarus the Dogcow down on the farm. ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: Why, the Apple retirement farm just outside Cupertino, along with the Classic Mac, Quadra, Centris, Performa, 7600, Beige G3, Blue and White G3 among others. Also all the old systems. Remember System 7? He's out there. So's Newton, LaserWriter and ColorStylewriter. They all while away their days playing Bingo and Shuffleboard. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Of course I forgot to say this place is really hard to find. Even the rumor sites haven't heard of it.

I hope somebody gave you good money for that Lisa. Unaltered Lisa I's are worth thousands. Later Lisas and MacXL's still fetch money on ebay. I'm not sure there's much collector demand for the //c though. IP: Logged |

Lisas are very rare, you should relish it if you have one. I have not come across one *yet* I am in an old-Mac buying binge. I got the Plus and the 128K a few weeks ago. The one with a smily face are the ones I had for a very long time. The 128K, G4, and G3 PowerBook are quite recent additions and 'd because the 128K is my oldest Mac, the G4 the fastest Mac, the G3 PowerBook my fastest Mac (since the G4 is not exactly mine). I got a mac SE kicking around, with a network card, that still works. It used to be the keyserver for my college campus. Oh, and I can confirm that the smiley mac face has been replaced with an Apple logo and a little spinny thing (great description eh?). It is nice thou, because it pops up on screen a lot earlier than the mac guy did, so on machines like mine which have a large amount of ram, there is atleast something going on besides a grey screen (which used to be displayed as 10.1.5 would check the ram, etc.) I wonder if the sad mac is still there. I don't really want to find that out thou. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I won a Lisa in a MacHack dead company contest. ProFile 5 meg hard drive, and H ROMs. When I was poking around in it, I found that there was major corrosion on the I/O board, and it looked like the traces had been entirely eaten away. Oh well. So it does start up, but fails the self-test, and can't boot anything since the floppy drive is busted, and I'm missing the ProFile cable. So it's sitting on the floor of my cube sitting pretty.
