I just read this disturbing article about an upcoming tax on recordable media. One of the effects would be a $105 tax on an iPod for it's 5 gig of disk. Canadians, start writing to your politicians. IP: Logged |

from the wired article quote: what really bugs me is that there are so many other uses for cd's other than coping music. This bill has the ability to not only hurt the consumer but teh artist, programmer or web designer also. Programmers back up almost daily. Imagine the extra money they would have to shell out to back up on cd's now. Or artist's who have to buy the cd's. These artist will have to pay the music industry for the cd's that they are selling. Or what about programmer who will now have to give money to the RIAA for making back-ups of software they are writing. This new bill, while it shows some signs of intelligence, really screws everyone over. I think the government needs to look at finding another way to hinder music piracy then going after everyone. ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: That's what was said prior to Prohibition, NAFTA and the guy who swallowed a goose-egg sized ruby. The first two were flat-out wrong, the third died from intestinal blockage. Well, to quote Meatlove, "Two out of Three Ain't Bad!" Since it won't be a big enough savings to make smuggling blank CDs across the border, I suggest stocking up ASAP. IP: Logged |

how could I possibly take such easy bait, meatlove is a gimme. I need something that doesn't smell of a trap. I'll hold out for something more challenging. Besides, I really like Meatloaf's music. There's no beating Meatloaf. <----that comment was just to make you happy Bregalad >;o) .....Z IP: Logged |

Meatloaf has been singing since before you were born. Even if you don't know who he is, you've probably heard "Paradise by the Dash Board Light" or "You Took The Words Right Out of My Mouth". He was also in the original Hair cast on Broadway and played Eddie in Rocky Horror (the movie, not that thing they have on Broadway today) IP: Logged |

Hot Patootie, that is sad. Have you ever seen the rocky horror picture show? It is worth seeing at least once. Meatloaf would be the fat guy in the freezer who rides out on his bike..........Z IP: Logged |

Actually MeatLoaf created the part of Eddie in the original theatre show. Hot Patootie is a great song, but having sung it on stage, one hell of a song to sing. At the end of it I felt like I had just run a Marathon. MeatLoaf has probably one of the best voices in Rock and Roll and 'Bat out of Hell' holds the record for the albulm that has the longest consectutive run in the Billboard top 100. I can also tell you that he is awesome in concert. IP: Logged |

I wouldn't worry about it. It won't last long. A tax for that is... well, ridiculous! I hate when ocurrences such as that go thru with making life miserable. ------------------ IP: Logged |
