This is all very sad. The fact that someone would kidnapp something then take pictures and mail them back to the owner. That is sick.

Yes, that appears to be the idea. Of course the garden gnome in "Amelie" was sort of adopted from a prank some people played on a friend some years ago. If I remember correctly the first one was a garden gnome taken from a suburban yard in New Jersey and sent around the world with pictures being sent back to the owner from various famous places. That was the first one I heard about, and there was a farily early web page with the pictures on it. The pictures in "Amelie" were very similar to those on the old web page I remember. In fact, it was almost an exact retelling of the story except for the orgin point being relocated to France.

As for you macaddikt18, what is your problem? It's a bit of harmless fun. Lighten up.

my problem, once ago i had a gnome in my garden. His name was calvin. Well one sunny summer after noon i returned home from vacation to find my wonderfull calvin kidnapped. The kidnapper left an envlope of pictures taped to the door. It was very hard for me. I was like 13 at the time. Still to this day i miss calvin.

I guess i could have, but it was a garden gnome. I got a new one, now named hobbes who lived peacefully until a branch broke off an overhead tree in a storm and killed him and my garden. oh well.
