archie and his friends get only an incredibly lame tv movie ("return to riverdale," anyone?) while josie and the pussycats get a full-length feature? i mean, yeah, okay, they've got that cute/sexy/felinesque thing going on, but what have they got that jughead hasn't? oh, err... i see your point. nevermind. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hey, did you see the trailer... there's a scene in there borrowed from AY2K... Bambi in the Void! When the "nice guy" tells Josie.... "you gotta believe in yourself" ....surrounded in bluish glow. IP: Logged |

Looks interesting, but I do not think that it will get out here. No Archie culture at all, so they would not know who 'Josie and the Pussycats' are. No taste... IP: Logged |

So, from what I can tell, everyone here is creaming their shorts about a remake of an old cartoon, and we know all of those suck (especially Mario Bros). This movie looks like Charlie's Angels without the action, so it's basically softcore porn. I'll spend my $4 on some cyanide for myself before I waste it on a movie like this. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I'm boycotting most of that animation to live action until the powers that be deliver either THUNDAR THE BARBARIAN or BATTLE OF THE PLANETS (minus that doped up kid, unless he dies a few minutes into the film) IP: Logged |

I never much cared for the cartoon but I really liked the theme song, especially the remake of it by Juliana Hatfield and Tanya Donnelly. I've heard that Kay Hanley, the lead singer of Letters to Cleo, is going to be doing the singing for Josie, though, and the sad truth is that I'll probably go see the movie just to hear the music. /me hangs his head in shame at his tacky tastes IP: Logged |

100%, I've read on Aint It Cool News that the live action Scooby-Doo is simply horrible but I'll hold out hope that the critics are just waffling. Isn't Freddie Prinz Jr. in it? If he is you can color me unimpressed. IP: Logged |

I just can't believe I started this whole thing with an innocent remark on IRC ;-) But, I'll probably go anyway, just to see the part where they trash the boy-bands. And it'll be at a matinee. :-) Note to Hollywood: Please call me or my friends. WE have original movie ideas! IP: Logged |

quote: Well, no. 1. It's a remake of an old comic book. There have been a few comic book movies that are good (Batman, MIB, X-Men, Batman, Superman, Batman, and probably others) 2. Mario Bros. was a remake of an old video game. I don't know of any video game movies that are any good, except perhaps Tron. Snaggy: I'll go with ya. IP: Logged |

yeah, i liked the hatfield/donnelly remake as well. i mean, sheah. (going to see the blake babies tonight, even...boston indie rock lore there). and, yeah. matinee, definitely. random: i really never could get over how their manager or roadie or tagalong just looked like Shaggy with better clothes and sunglasses in the cartoon. definitely one sight better that he'll just look like an average white dude. random #2: if they even THINK about doing a jabberjaw remake, i'm moving to mars. Migrant Programmer says: Mario Bros. was a remake of an old video game. Actually, I mean the Mario Bros. cartoon show. That was cool. I watched it every day. ------------------ IP: Logged |

The old Mario Bros Cartoon brings back so many memories... there were at least 3 versions. The SMB 3 version, the SMW-Dinosaur version and a really really old version (I think) that was shown along with a show about Link/Zelda, a "Gamemaster" teen of some type in the video game world (with a nintendo controller of course) trying to get home. All in all, those were great times. -Drasca IP: Logged |

I tell you, it's all a catgirl thing. (And I see I'm not the only one to feel this way.) Also: Smeg yes, Captain N ruled! QotD: "If you let me go, I'll tell you something cool."--a deku scrub in the Great Deku Tree who deserved to die for using outdated slang in such an annoying way. (_Zelda:_Ocarina_of_Time_, for those uninitiated.) Attack of, well, all time: "Hiryu shoten-ha!" (ah, yes, the ultimate plot contrivance in martial arts fiction!) PS: hey, Erin! ^_^ IP: Logged |

Drakvl: Catgirl-ness does not necessarily denote coolness. For example, Merle (from Tenkuu no Escaflowne) is the single most annoying character I have seen in a long time. I kept hoping that Dilandau would kill her in nasty ways... ------------------ IP: Logged |
