Seems a silly thing to whine about. Among other things, I'm a comic book fan, but I still laugh at funny Superman/X-Men/et al jokes. Same goes for Star Wars and my music... Of course, not being a chemistry buff, I don't think I even know what Benzine rings are.... ------------------ IP: Logged |

Well, for one thing the correct spelling is benzene. Six carbon atoms, each with one hydrogen attached, in a ring. Double bonds between every other carbon. The thing about these double bonds is the electron in them are actually shared ammong all six carbons, giving benzene some unique properties (being a carcinogen is one of them). One or more of the hydrogens on a benzene ring can be substituted with some other functional group, such as an alcohol or amine (ammonia minus a hydrogen). This changes the properties of benzene considerably, as the song shows. Okay, enough chemistry for one day. I found the song to be very amusing. ------------------ IP: Logged |
