What is an Uber Geek? Please define and give examples, if possible.
Thanks,

Uber Geek? The UBB title that is on these GC boards? Or the term in general?

Uber geek is just a title liking you to how many posts you have on this forum. In general it is a reference to Aslo Sprach Zarathustra. It would be some one who is readched the zeinith of geekdom.

When we get to UberGeek, is there a T-Shirt involved?

(I know, there certainly is, if I buy one!)

I wrote extensively about the Ubermensch, or "super-man". It is the next stage in human evolution. "Ubergeek" would obviously refer to the next stage in geek evolution. The geek who is totally at one with his realm of geekiness, and stands above the others in achievement. The ubergeek, as a prerequisite, has reached a state of "Nerdvana". Und I don't mean Nerdvana the amusement park.

Cool. The German "Geek Culture". What depresses me is that everyone there seems to be casually bi-lingual, posting reviews in German of books written in English. In the U.S. so few people can do things like that it's pitiful.

Yes. You are so right - it is Danish. I got there from the Nietzsche link and I just assumed German without really looking closely. My bad.

I see ubergeek as a rating of geekyness, not a type. Thereby, when a particular friend of mine and I are seperate, we are each very geeky. When we are hanging out, though, we are one Ubergeek. Of course, the telepathy helps.
I had a german girlfriend once...

Well, since we're on the topic... let's talk geekdom for a moment.
There are 1337 Haxors which is just a wannabe script kiddie
Script kiddies who are wannabe Crackers who think Hackers are Crackers
Crackers are educated dangerous grown script kiddies who do damage machines and write the scripts for the kiddies
Phreaks are Phone Hackers and Crackers - the exploit the phone systems for ammusment and free calls.
Hackers - The next evolution of geek, these are programers who hack out code, who resent the modern media meaning for the word hacker - see GNU manifesto
Which would make Ubber geek the next evolution after Hacker? So Jobs, Woz, Allen, Linus and the like would be Ubber Geeks?

I have to strongly disaggre with GameMaster. An Ubergeek is not a step in evolution after hacker. Geekiness and being able to play with computers are orthogonal concepts. Consider the TV show "Beat the Geeks". They have movie, music and TV geeks. And these guys are truly geeks. They know so much arcania about their respective topics that it's actually scary. Computers just are not part of the equation.
