OS X. File sharing doesn't stay "on" between bootings. Noticed that privledged folders/files don't stay as read/write between bootings either. Any advice?

Thats odd. You do have administrative access to the machine, right? You could try enabling the root user. Log in as root and then do your stuff. Hopefully it should hold.

To enable root, pop open a Terminal window and type:

sudo passwd root

You'll be asked for your own password, and then you can set the root password. You may need to go to the Login control panel and check the little Show "Other User" in List box so that you can type in root at the login screen. See if that helps.
