Mr. Gaunt came from Ohio, only he came from Akron. (literary reference: the character's full name is Leland Gaunt.) So, perhaps Ohio is Hell and Akron is its center? IP: Logged |

Yes I am and you can tell. Because I believe 1 that a deer is synonymous with hood ornament 2 people from PA talk about our quaint little hills 3 people would slit their own throats before admitting that the Bengals/Browns suck to anybody outside their region. 4 I know what the rubber bowl is and where 5 I KNOW that Cleveland is not the capital 6 Mansfield is that OTHER big city that no one likes to talk about 7 Snow in May is normal 8 Weather is devided into two sections lake-effect and non 9 Most people in small towns are proud of their west virginia heritage 10 I know what a Golden Flash is supposed to be 11 I love the Buckeyes and I hate buckeyes 12 The OSU symbol is not a pot leaf 13 YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE TWO MINUTES wearing anything relating to steelers or wolverines 14 I know where the band SR-71 got their name IP: Logged |

OHIO SUCKS!!!,,This is the most boring place I have ever been, I would be happy just to stand on the border of Ohio and Kentucky just get out of here. I am moving to New York the day I turn 18.LOL I am sick of living with a bunch of hicks. They are all around me,bunch of redneck ,that fly the colors. I don't believe in any of this shit, but was raised too. And they neibors are even worse,,don't even get me started on them. There is maybe 1 computer store around where I live, and even then it would take you 2 hours too get there. GOD HELP US ALL who live in Ohio.! P.S. If your thinking about moving don't move here if someone paid you, you would rather live in a dumpster then live here.LOL IP: Logged |

Columbus is a very cool place to live: a good mix of college town and midwestern metropolis. I just wish it were a bit more interesting geographically: not a lot of good hiking or cycling. We do have some great bike paths which are good for running/walking, but not so hot for long rides. The Columbus area MetroParks rule! There are some excellent restaurants, and there are plenty of rock/jazz/classical concerts to check out. The public schools in the city need an overhaul (i.e. lots of money), but the schools in the 'burbs are good. We have major league soccer and hockey, Triple-A baseball, and top notch college football and basketball. Cincinnati is a fun place to spend a weekend. There are some nice parks around the Yellow Springs area. In other words, Ohio is a fine place to live. IP: Logged |

quote: Sadly, this has got to be Nayt's funniest post...I should be ashamed that I laughed. Oh, yes, to the actual subject: I've been to Ohio. Esta no particularly divertido, but it's still a place. I only have bad memories to associate w/ that state. I do agree, though, that it's kinda bare...NOT LIKE THE GOOD OLD DARK FORESTS AND EVER-SO-QUIGGY MOUNTAINS HERE IN WASHINGTON!! YIPPY! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Oh just gloat about it, why don't you? I'll just sit around and hope the next race riot doesn't come to my neighborhood. It was a close call last time; we've got one of those designer clothing shops around here... ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hey, Geek247, you need to get out of the sticks and move to a city! You know, those places where all the big buildings are? Cleveland's not so bad. No, really. And the Cuyahoga River hasn't caught on fire for a really long time. The northern strip of Ohio, along Lake Erie, is heavily industrialized, at least from Vermilion/Lorain over to the Cleveland suburbs. (Any farther west than that, and you're in Boat Country, so bring your fishin' gear. If you're rich, and you like boating, live in Vermilion.) If you're more than about 15 miles south of Lake Erie, you're in farm country. And your pickup had better be a Ford. Or maybe a Chevy, if you're a big guy. But definitely not a Toyota. If you don't like snow very much, avoid the lake effect snow region, east of Cleveland. The west side (or the south, but only farmers live very far south) gets much less snow. The Chump: one subtle point here is that if you're in Cleveland, you're allowed (nay, encouraged) to say that the Bengals suck. I'm not sure what the Cincinnati culture is like, but I'd hazard a guess that they encourage anti-Browns sentiments. Random trivia: in terms of being the butt of jokes, Parma is to Cleveland what Cleveland is to everywhere else. The stereotype is that every Parma resident is white and middle-class, and has a pink lawn flamingo. IP: Logged |

Actually, we're more encouraged to laugh at the Bengals around here. Personally, we root for the Browns. And the Packers. ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote:GO PACKERS *thumbs up*! My favorite football game was the recent Rose Bowl one (I think), Rams against the Patriots. My dad rooted for the Patriots, I for me good 'ol (Aries) Rams . I think both are pretty good teams, even though the Patriots kicked the Rams' asses last time...I still love them though, damnit! If I actually went to a (prof.) live football game, I'd paint my whole body the best team's colors! Oh the joy ! But I love playin' the game...I can take down a lot of the big boys w/ one slide . Contact sports are the BEST! I get to...touch a lot...of- ....heehehee. I love myself... ------------------ IP: Logged |

- Miles - There's pro-football in Ohio?? Around Columbus the only team people follow is the Ohio State Buckeyes, and religiously too. *Religiously*!? Jiminy H. Christmas! If people treated God like they treat the Buckeyes, there'd be some serious smiting going on. To judge from what we hear on 610, the fans are either pissed that the Bucks didn't win, or they're pissed that the Bucks didn't win by a large-enough margin. They could win 63-0 (1), and the fans would be criticizing the QB for a handful of offenses, the coach for not making the QB sit the bench, and the defensive squad for letting the other team advance even a couple yards. No, I'm not an Ohio geek. I just keep an abode here (an important legal distinction). (1) well, okay, no they couldn't ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: EngrBohn: Ah, you're missing the subtle but important distinction: The Ohio State Buckeyes is a holy institution. For any player to give anything less than 210% or to fail to behave like a choir boy is to defile this sacred tradition. E.g. John Cooper : Ohio State Buckeyes :: Cardinal Bernard Law (that Boston priest guy) : Catholic Church. (Pardon me if you think the comparison is in bad taste.) Disclaimer: I just moved to Columbus 2 years ago, so I only report these views as I see them, without subscribing to them. (I belong to the churches of the Colorado Buffaloes (NCAA) and NY Giants (NFL).) IP: Logged |

Oh, dear me -- Ohio's slipping! We used to be the 6th most populous state in the Union, and now we're 7th! OK, fellow Ohioans. We know what we have to do -- our reproductive duty is clear! Let's get to humpin'! IP: Logged |
