What exactly makes a geek? Any redeeming qualities of geekiness? I'm new at being a geek. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I'm sure you'll get plenty of earnest responses to this, but mine won't be one of them. It occured to me whilst walking to my car today, "A geek is someone who finds the swallow, not the coconut, to be humorous." Mostly in referrence to how funny my brother finds the fact that they're banging coconut halves together the comical highlight of the movie. That said, I'm aware that there are exceptions to this 'rule' but it made me feel all fuzzy inside to think about. It sort of tickled at first, but now it's starting to itch real badly... I think I'll go see a doctor about it. ------------------ IP: Logged |

if you need to ask what makes a geek, how do you know you are one? IP: Logged |

Obsession. the most comman form of geekyness, is the computer geek, and I am poud to say I fit in that catogory quite nicely thankyou! But a geek can have an obsession with anything, motorbikes, dogfood, UFOs, Me, Dogs, horses, Chutney, me, actualy if you have an obsession with the last one you need to see a doctor IP: Logged |

based on what you've said, I've decided I don't want to be a geek. I want to be normal. ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: I don't abhor normal people, I just feel sorry for them. They're missing out on so much coolness. The world is full of weird stuff, and they're too tunnel-visioned to see it. Lucky for the "normal" people, they have me to bring some weirdness into their lives. I get my friends to read Terry Pratchett! I got a co-worker hooked on PortalofEvil.com! I use British slang at inappropriate times! ::maniacal laughter:: One by one, the penguins steal their sanity! (Sorry...I stole that last line off a T-shirt.) My point is, being a geek is fun. If you are one, you should embrace it. You'll be happier/more confident for doing so. IP: Logged |

I am normal. Mostly I meet weird people. But once in a while I meet other people that are normal like me. I wish there were more of them. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I have seen "If people think you're weird, you're probably just intelligent" on a T-shirt. IP: Logged |
