I wish the local user group looked like that one.

This should probably actually go in Rants, but here will do. I hate my local Macintosh users group Washington Apple Pi. Most people seem to go there to learn how to use Claris^H^H^H^H^HAppleWorks to write letters to their grand kids. I know there are some geeks at the meetings, but it is tough to find them among the retired bureaucrats. It doesn t help that the main meetings are at 9:00 am on Saturdays. What am I supposed to do get 3 hours sleep or something.

OK, I feel better now.

At least your group isn't full of grandparents enamored with genology software.

Yes, that's one problem of viewing the universe of Nitrozac and Snaggy. It's funny, but it also makes you want to join it and interact with the magical people in there, and because you can't, it makes you so frustrated..

You know, that looked kind of like the Atlanta MUG, at least back when I went to the meetings 5 years ago. It probably helped that AMUG met on a college campus. Only, the people in the JoT MUG are better looking.

Well genealogy is what they move onto after how to write letters to their grandkids. To be fair though ther are actually quite a few competent Mac users in the MUG; they just don't share my computer geeky interests. Actually genealogy is pretty geeky when you get into it.

Then you wouldn't want to have been to the last UG meeting when this was the featured subject. I almost fell asleep during the presentation. The fact at the time I was the shareware librarian who had an demonstration afterward would have made things, shall we we say, interesting if somebody had to wake me up so I can do my bit.

Well, i guess i am half lucky here. We have a MUG, but it is a 45 min drive into the neighboring state. I mean i love my mac, but not a 45 min drive bad. Plus the apple store is only 15 min away.
