Sega Dreamcast is more than "sort of" Linux--according to a recent issue of the new magazine CPU (Computer Power User) someone actually hacked a Linux distro that runs on the Dreamcast.

Yeah, someone hacked a Linux distro to work on Dreamcast, but Sony actually released a PS2 Linux kit. It came out in Japan last year, and will apparently be coming out in America, too (7000 people signed a petition to have it released here).

Basically it comes with a PS2 hard drive, a keyboard, mouse, network adaptor, and linux- all for about $100.

I just think it will be wonderful irony when someone hacks the X-box to work with Linux (unless someone already has?)

I don't have and X-Box, but I want one. I've played it though, and its rad. I like Halo (when is it coming out for mac already?...Anyone else remember watching the preview, 3 or so years ago?) And Dead Or Alive 3, has got to be one of the best games ever. Oh man...

Kick ASS Man!! I would love to kill you over and over again online sometime. I can't stop playing that game for the sheer thrill of killing Hunters with a single shot from my pistol and blasting tanks with my rifle. I only wish you could take out drop ships though. When your driving the scorpion it's turret doesn't inflict any damage at all. bummer. But i don't have a home connection yet. My qwest dsl modem ( cisco 678 ) has faults to it and i need to flash burn the babe before i get online again, it's under warranty so no worries, and i am just waiting for another Software cd from good ole qwest to come in the mail. Otherwise i have been dying to play those other 15 or so levels reserved for multiple players. Good luck and g-nite!

One could in theory hack linux onto an x-box. I would buy one if I could do that.

The X-box was made in such a way to discourage a OS other than the Kernel.
