Lou Reed performing his "Berlin" album
You've probably heard the sad news that Lou Reed has died. My favorite album of Reed's is Berlin, a difficult, painful, depressing rock opera, but incredible beautiful and haunting too. It's the kind of music that works it's way under your skin and becomes part of your soul.

Star Trek Continues!
Forum member macmcseboy alerted us to this great project, continuing the voyages of the original Enterprise, shot in the same style as the original Star Trek! The first episode features some familiar faces... Michael Forest, the original series actor who played Apollo, reprises his role, and Chris Doohan (James's son!) plays Mr. Scott!

Our pals at Thinkmodo have done it again! They've created a brilliant/hilarious/fascinating viral video for the new Carrie movie. It was launched just 48 hours ago, and is now the #1 most watched video on YouTube with over 17 million views. Congrats Thinkmodo!

Nest's new baby... a smoke detector!
Great article by Steven Levy over on WIRED about Nest's latest invention, a super smart smoke detector.
With features such as voice alerts, CO and steam detection, wave to silence, no annoying chirp battery warnings, and more! As someone who completely hates the current state of smoke alarms, I can't wait for these. Available for pre-order now in the USA, hopefully they will show up in other countries asap.
