2001 error on iPod Touch?
If you are having trouble updating your iPod Touch with the new iPhone 2.0 software, my experience may help you. The update kept failing on my PowerBook running Tiger, I kept getting the error 2001. The iPod Touch would restore over on my Leopard machine, but unfortunately I had bought the 2.0 update on my TigerBook.
The solution was simple. Turn off Classic and try the update again. Worked for me!

What do you mean by "turn off Classic?".

In Mac OS X 10.4, Tiger, turn off the OS 9 Classic environment.

hey thanks snaggy it worked for me too, though i have no idea why or how
but basically for powerbook users just go to system preferences then go to classic and click 'stop' and that solves the problem

Well I've got the Error 2001 as well but I'm using OS X 10.5.6 and haven't got Classic to close. My Firmware is 2.1 and my iPod won't do a thing anymore... Hase anyone an idea of what to do?
