This has to be my favorite video game ever, for any platform. In case you aren't familiar with this game, it is an unconventional SNES RPG that takes place in'Eagleland' in the year 199X. Enemies include street signs, gas pumps, and cranky old ladies. If you missed this game the first time around, and have a SNES emulator, it might be a fun game to try out one weekend. If you have a real SNES lying aroung, go to FuncoLand and buy it! Does anyone else remember/love this game like I do? They were originally going to make a sequal for the N64, but that fell through after being years of vaporware.... I miss EarthBound..... IP: Logged |

We'll Ness did come back in a very cool N64 game, and Cube remake, Supersmashbrothers.. Help cure some of the nostalgia

Heh. I recall one day wandering through the dinosaur place and wondering why Ness couldn't seem to hit anything with his Casey Bat. Once I figured that out, those dinos didn't stand a chance. Ending was a bit weird, but appropriate. Here's hoping for EarthBound GC. IP: Logged |

Yes, I definitely recommend you visit www.starmen.net, and our sister site, www.moonside.net. www.earthbound.net is also there, but it's more confusing to navigate and overall lamer. (However, since the great EB.Net/SM.Net split of 2000 there has been a measured amount of hostility between the two sites, so I guess I'm a little biased.) Be sure to come check out the PK Hack forum at SM.Net. Our little h4x0riNg community has managed to decode a great deal of data in EarthBound itself - almost entirely new games are possible, with certain notable exeptions such as map data and so forth. ___________________________________________ IP: Logged |

Yeah, I was looking at those sites earlier today, that's kinda what triggered the nostalgia in the first place.... Hopefully they release Mother 3 for Gamecube, but something deep down inside tells me that even if they ever do release a new game, it won't be as much fun as the first. Call me old fashioned, but I think the cheesy 2D graphics that EarthBound had on the SNES was one of the best parts of the game... it just wouldn't be as much fun in 3D.... oh well, that's just my opinion anyway... I would be interested in playing something using the same game engine, with similar humour, just with a new story and maps..... IP: Logged |

WHile i don't own it any more i would to aquire it again. Now does anyone know if you can download an snes emulator for the mac and get the game to run under it. I have not heard to many sucess stories of emulators working. Nayt ------------------ IP: Logged |

I use Snes9x on Linux, it works well there, and there is a Mac port (which I havn't personnally tried) available here... I haven't had any trouble getting EarthBound to work with this, but I don't know- is it generally a hard ROM to get working? IP: Logged |

Guys, look up "Earthbound Zero". It's the rom from the never-released translation of the original Mother for NES, and as such it's even supposedly legal to download and all. Of course, it's NES, so it'll be less "impressive" and all, but if you're dying for more EB, try it up. It's in my list of "things i should do soon"  Of course, many of you may not just know about it but even have already beaten it too, so this may not be a newsflash at all IP: Logged |

Personally, I use ZSNES. The most recent version runs EarthBound near-perfectly. (The only problem lies in its passable sound emulation.) As per the Mother 3 issue, the GBA would probably be a better platform (simply because one of the problems with the original project ended up being the programming team's inexperience with 3D technology.) At the very least it seems Nintendo is testing the market by introducing EarthBound through the Super Smash Brothers games. IP: Logged |

It may be a good thing Mother 3 never came out. A lot of the charm in EB came from the fact that the main characters were semi-average kids, and not adults. In M3, the main character was going to be some hick cowboy named Flint... :\ IP: Logged |

*gasp!* I just finished beating that game a month ago! I love it! I thought of doing a search of the forums for "Earthbound" but didn't, thinking that it would turn up empty anyway-- then I saw this thread! Acutally, I recorded about 10 mp3s from game, 2 of which were finished 2 days ago. The the Sky Runner theme, the credits, and the final battle are my favorite songs. Speaking of the final battle, wasn't that amzing? I can't honestly say I've beaten a game in that way before. As for Earthbound Zero...OMG! It's amazing! Startropics was a great game, but it was certainly no match for this, and was released in 1990 in America while EB0 wasn't. IP: Logged |

/me plays Earthbound Zero. Of course, in the true Earthbound spirit, your first battle is with a lamp. Anyone know if the fourth character in EBZ is supposed to be Poo? He looks a bit different... named him Poo anyway. Guess I'll find out whenever I get to him. IP: Logged |

Nothing has ever surpassed EB in fun. A few years ago I got EB for my birthday from a friend, whom later grumbled that he should have kept it for himself. I use EB frequently as inspiration for RPG Maker. For Example, the enemy "Random Shouting Man" came half from some of the enemies in Earthbound and half from a teacher at my high school who always seems to like using a badly-to-not working microphone to shout peoples names. I had a much longer post that was much better, but it got erased when I realized my account wasn't on here anymore. OK, now it appears that someone has taken my old name of "haxor" IP: Logged |

I used to play that game too. I love the cute graphics, and the energetic and funky battle music. The manual helped me finish the game several times. I love the different kinds of items you can get. IP: Logged |

wow, another conkers fan. WOW, i personally do not own that great game or a console system, but i have played that game. It is great. I love where you can wack people with frying pans. You know what else about the game i like. Greg, the grim ripper. Now he is awesome. He is always complaining about cats, and he is funny about it. heh heh I thought you were talking about the movie "Mating Habits of the Earth Bound Human" That is one funny video. It is not a porno but a documentery on how humans view sex from the prespective of an advanced extraterestrial species. They find that we mate in a funny way making funny noises if that tells you anything about the humor of the movie. It is ment to be viewed much like a documentary on weasles or some such other furry woodland creature. IP: Logged |
