I am so ashamed...I walked around school like I was all that and I really had this attitude of, You want me but you can't have me" at the advice of a friend. I wish I had not done it because that day this guy came to school that really likes me and saw me that way when I am trying to convince him that I really hate myself (the sad part of that is it is true. )I don't HATE myself but I have a ton of issuses that I have to work out so I just am not ready for a reletionship. So I am really ashamed because I acted like someone I am not. But to get guys to notice you in high school you have to act that Send good loving thoughts to me please as I firgue out what the heck I want! Thank you fellow geekers!

Oh, GeekDiva, please try and laugh .... that's life, we all do things that are silly and that often don't come out the way we want. That's how we learn. High School is hard and being of High School age is even harder. And don't be too hard on yourself about the "issues". I will tell you this: People who say they have no flaws, problems, or issues are the true liars and freaks of the world AND they live in a very small world. Being honest with yourself, accepting yourself, and then challenging yourself to change is one of the greatest journeys and truths of life. Give yourself some perspective. You are young .... and I don't say that in a patronizing way ... and you have a whole world to see and experience. Girls rule, and you are one ... . Date yourself GeekDiva!! Be good to yourself!! Take a bubblebath. Read a good book. Revel in the fact that you are intelligent and a woman ... two very powerful and delightful facts .... two facts no boy's attention or lack of attention can take away. Oh, I don't know if this helps. It was one day. But, yin yang, you know? ... you're going to have an amazing day coming your way sometime soon .

Guys in high school haven't had enough time to mature yet. You're better off waiting for college where they get just a little taste of the real world. It gets even better once you make it out of college. Just keep your chin up and I promise things get much better with time. Of course, this is coming from a guy who would rather spend time with a '68 'Cuda than go out on a date with someone .........Z

I agree with Zorro.
In the words of Chef: "Kids, there's a time and place for everything. It's called college."

No guy is worth fundamentally changing who you are. Even if you're already in the realtionship. Even if you love him.
No high school guy is worth anything (though I had to come to college to figure that one out!).

Thank you so much. It is just soo hard being a girl that does not have a ton of self-esteem. (sigh) My parents are just not extactly the most supportive. I am a very religious and my parents are not very okay with that. They make plans on purpose when I am working at my church. My mom will say to me: "Allyssa, those pants are a little tight on you huh?" and then ask me if I am bulimic and has asked me if I deal drugs! Also she compares me to my brother. (Who gets like staight A's and has a gf for like 14mons. Also is a jock and yadie yadie ya...) So yeah being me (who I am and was made to be) is hard in this family. But when I move out I will never again let them tell me how I should or let them compare me with anyone else. So my lesson to you is this:
LOVE WHO YOU ARE!!!!!!!!!!! SCREW ANYONE ELSE (unless you are hurting yourself)then something is wrong. But just love yourself. I know that I am going to have to wait until college to find the geek of my dreams.
Please keep sending me love and good thoughts! Thank you for listening!

Geek chica, it seems you've already learned some of the advice I just posted in the love thread. I have one thing to add. Everyone had moments of insecurity. There is a time in everyone's life when they don't feel good about themselves. I'm just learning that. I thought I was alone with my feelings, or part of a group of people, but it's EVERYBODY. It was mind boggling to me. The thing is, people deal with it in different ways, and a lot of people are really good at hiding it.

Sometimes it's good and useful to care what other people think. Other times you're much better off figuring they're entitled to their opinion and leaving it at that.

Oh, how easy it would be if we didn't have to figure out which was which!
