Where to begin...
1. Reading Neiztche
2. Reading any real philosophy
3. Most types of reading in general
And so on...
This is at least true of the girls that live in my general geographic area. Someone please tell me this is'nt a universal law.

From a recent IRC chat:

<theLemur> don't make her cook you dinner at the last minute
<theLemur> i found out that chicks hate that when you're trying to impress them
<theLemur> who knew?
<theLemur> also, washing your underwear is apparently a faux pas when the chicks are around

Frankly I find signs of intellect (aka, reading) a turn on. Neiztche, well, I have some issues with Neiztche. Though sometimes I find myself agreeing with his madman.

I am turned off by guys who are obviously trying to impress me. If you're a real bad-ass, you don't need to prove it. I'll figure it out for myself.

Sadly in my general area this is true. At least it has been shown to be true by all girls i have come in contact with. oh well, it is not like it is that important. I did think of another way to not get a girl. Don't want up to them and say, "can we have sex" I have not done this, but i am sure it would be a turnoff, maybe i am wrong.

the trick is to make it look efortless and pretend to not give a damn what they think while trying incredibly hard to impress them. They will never catch on but you might snag a girl.
I personally haven't ever given a damn about what anyone thought about me but i have seen my friends employ the above trick quite successfully...so try it, might work for you.
Now remember, confidence, nonchalance, and a lot of effort, thats all you need.

oh and one more thing that scares the girls away. Never ever tell them what you're really like or let your temper get the better of you in a pool hall and get into a fight while on a date. Even if you win the fight and no matter how spectacularly well you handle the pool cue, you've just lost the girl. She will forget your phone number and name at the end of the date and you will most certainly never see her again......

I have to agree with Xanthine, Dr. C. If I think a guy is attractive and then find out he doesn't read he suddenly becomes way less attractive.

Dr. C, different people find different things attractive. Just be who you are and eventually you will meet a girl who finds you attractive for who you actually are. Don't try to hide things that you feel girls find unattractive, you won't really be happy. And even worse, you might miss out on a chance with someone who might find you genuinely attractive.

Mephisto, that's just wrong. When do you tell them what you're "really like"? It's such a waste of time to get to know someone and then find out they're not anything like the person you thought they were. There should be a form everyone fills out before a date where both people list their worst qualities, bad habits, pet peeves, etc. Then if you can tolerate most of the stuff on each other's list, continue with the date. I did it once and it worked out pretty well...

According to Euclydian geomitry, i have infinite patience. I belive that anger is a vice that is rarely nessesary. this reminds me of a quote i came up with one day, "why beat women when you can tickle them?". But, back to the topic, i am also a coward who is too shy to talk to girls anyway. I have a fear that they will all be mindless drones of the capitalist fasion market, more intrested in things that aristotle refered to as vices (such as vanity).

would you tell a girl on your first date exactly why you have that scar on your face or certain sounds make you tense up like crazy and get a certain look in your eyes or something like that even if she asks? Certain information is not to be shared trust me.
And I'm the way i act, just that there are two sides to me, there is the side that actually more than merits the nick mephisto and then there is the side that is called huggy wuggy teddy bear or something like that by anyone who sees me that way. I'm mephisto only when pushed into a corner but the thing is that even though the side appears less and less now it still exists and i would rather let a girl know what I'm capable of with respect to ruthlessness, brutality in a fist fight or something like that than hide it. but not on the first date only when i see things getting serious. sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I was a normal geek not what I am. Even my wife doesn't like that side of me.....but then who loves a beast? And for the record i told my wife how brutal, ruthless and without a conscience i could be on the third date. Then i asked her whether knowing this do you still want to date me? to her credit she didn't run like hell after hearing what i told her. she actually just put her arms around me and let me lie there. you know, life ain't all that bad......

I have to agree. One of the drawbacks of living in the West. If it doesn't have to do with farming, country music, guns, keggers, the military, Christianity (a big one in Colorado Springs), etc., then it generally isn't welcome (with the exception of Denver and a few larger cities out West).

Hey! No one is pointing out the obvious here. If you are trying to use Nieztche with the ladies, well, I have news for you - he is not a turn on. Try reading Barry White lyrics.

Also, guys who take themselves way too seriously (cough, european existenialists, nihilists, etc.) are generally to be avoided. no one wants to have pillow talk about the nipple of woe and misery.

I think most women want literate, intelligent men - they just don't want the philosophical baggage that might go along with that. If you can't avoid philosophers, at least try to get drunk before you read them.

OH cmon! I grew up in the Springs, and I spent a year there a couple years ago before I came into the Navy. I didn't seem to have any trouble meeting women that weren't into those things... Then again I was taking care of kids at the time, and when you walk up with triplet boys who are 3 years old.... Instant chick magnet... It also helped that I wasn't married and only taking care of the kids... Women for some reason really like guys who are good with kids... Go figure.

That's because we figure "Hey, he likes kids. If we were to get married and have kids he could help take care of them so I could keep my career."

That and it's cute to watch dads rolling around playing with their kids. As I have said before, dads let you do things that would make moms have kittens.

no matter what you do, there is at least one girl who doesn't mind. every time I think something is obviously gonna send the girls screaming away, I run into a site full of girls who enjoy it. I recently discovered a site for people who enjoy vomit. nobody should have to change, just find the someone who shares your interests, they are out there..........Z

Nietzsche, Marx, both so angry. Kierkegaard and Pascal are more appealing. Not only is Pascal a mathematician as well as a philosopher, but by reading his Pensees I was able to understand exactly what it was I disliked so much about my ex-boyfriend.

Longmont in particular is indeed pretty conservative. Ten miles south in Boulder (where I am) it is much more "liberal" in the sense of embracing the left-wing mostly but still "conservative" in the sense of not being too tolerant of anything else. But I like it, am 12 minutes by bike from work, and can hit Denver in a trice if I am in need of a smoky bar...

Back on topic, I've found the drunken lurching interaction surprisingly ineffective at impressing anyone. I don't know how college kids do it. Two of my favorite moments:

Me: lemme see yr lef hand.
She: (lifts her hand)
Me: oh good ysee at my age I hafta check see if yr married first har har har
She: ohhhhkayyy (backs away slowly)

She: anyone have a lighter?
Me: I have THE lighter! (pulls out very ordinary Zippo) See the lighter? (waves Zippo around in her face) THE LIGHTER!
She: ohhhhkayyy (backs away slowly)

This reminds me of another thing that will not get women... Having bottle rocket fights... Girls seem to run away and get really pissed off.... Not that I uhhh would do something like that... It must have inadvertently missed my best friend who was standing err...behind me..
*snicker* Ahh the stupid things I did as a kid... It's a wonder I'm still alive.

Longmont isn't a bad little town. Much more affordable than Boulder. Of course it shuts down at 9:00pm. Then again, one can always trek on over to Denver or Boulder (and one has to for any kind of good cookin).
