Ok, apparently this LInuxWorld was more 'businessy' than previous ones, and a bit less fun in comparison, but this is the first one I have ever been to and I thought it was loads of fun.

Of course, since I went on the last day, I didn't get to see any keynotes or special events (so I can't tell you how they were). Basically my expo pass allowed me to walk around and gather swag while listening to various sales pitches.

Speaking of swag:

here is most of the cool stuff i got.

Here is an entertaing poster I got from HP. (reminds me of the old Maxell ads)

The biggest companies were (predictably) compaq, ibm, hp, et. al. and they typically had the best swag. Compaq basically ran the show, and hosted a gameshow (more of an interactive advertisement with prizes) which I got to play (and win/tie). Everybody had some pretty cool tech to show off (most unexpected was IBM's intelligent vending machine, powered by LInux, which gave out free water

Despite the more businessy feel this Linuxworld had, it was still really laid back- most companies had bean bag chairs set up for the presentations. The .org pavillion was great, too- I got to chat with people from the EFF (of which I'm a memeber), and a bunch of NY LUGS, among others.
