Have a look at Time's Apple feature at http://www.time.com and click on the timeline. Look closely at "the first Macintosh"-- it isn't!

I lost all respect for Time when they changed the man of the year selection in order to appease everyone........Z

What are you talking about? This year's selection (I heard that it was supposed to be Bin Laden), or that issuse from over 2 decades ago where they made it "The Computer" (which is cool, I guess) instead of Steve Jobs after they found out about his child support problems?

I'm sure there are also dozens of Man of the year selections that sucked.

Yes but the man of the year is supposed to be the person that has had the most impact on news over the year. I felt they gave in to PC pressure. Even the local editorial comics have been tearing up time. I really wish people would just do what they want without having someone else change their minds........Z

I really agree, esp. after having seen an old issue of Time where that Allytulah (sp, I know) guy was man of the year.

That's terrible. There are two Macs sitting on a shelf in this room that are older than the one they show and even they are second generation machines (SE). Doesn't anybody at Time know where to find a Plus? At least it would have been close to the right colour and looked somewhat like the original. Even so many of us would've spotted the differences in the case design, mouse, and the numeric keypad integrated into the keyboard, but it might have fooled the general public.

I was told that even Hitler was once Man of the Year. We don't have to like the person, but I guess the subscribers are more important now. I think the Apple was once Man of the Year, though it is not really a person. I can't remember the year, but I can research it...........Z

From that article:

There are some things in the world of Jobs that you can rely on. On warm days, he will always appear at work shoeless and in hiking shorts. The rest of the time, he will always wear Levi's jeans, no belt and one of the hundreds of black, mock-turtleneck shirts a clothing-designer chum made for him many years ago.

No mention of a shirt on warm days. Does that mean he's walking around the office topless? Oughta be good for employee morale, or bad for it, depending how often he hits the gym

On the same timeline mentioned before, in the photo credits the Cube is reffered to as the "iCube."

No, wait! I take it back! I take it all back! I now understand why the online timeline is screwed up! I just got a copy of the magazine, and its timeline feautes a really gooood pic of Steve hugging the orginal Mac. Wouldn't want that .JPEG stolen! Sure they used this pic in the "Steve's two Jobs" issue, but this one is bigger.

Okay, so it was still a really dumb mistake for them to make. But I'm happy.
