You can hear Cmdr Taco, full of his own lettuce, pretending that a subscription is a "tip" (pure 1984 there)... and whining about the JoT cartoon which unveils his ridiculousness.

About the only thing he didnt say was "Yes, I invented curling in hell."

Yo Quiero No Taco.

He actually didn't whine about the JoT cartoon.

But he did say, when asked how it felt to be immortalized as a geek sex symbol in After Y2K... "whatever".

Looks like I'll have to draw a drained pool, with no TTBs and a tip jar. lol

I don't know about you, but when I head for the border, I don't tip for some boring taco.

Give him a break, he's just trying to keep his site running like Geek Culture is, but on an exponentially larger scale. Read this to learn more. I subscribed to /., and I subscribed here - I support both sites. It is quite nice to get the added perk of no ads on /., which makes the tipping a little nicer. JoT/AY2K subscriptions are truly more like subscriptions to a magazine - as you still get ads and content when you pay for it. [Caution: do not read the previous sentence as a negative, but as a more factual statement.]

Yeah, that's true dragon, you're right! Perhaps advertising will come around again and there will be a win/win/win situation for all of us netizens.

You know something? I actually LIKE the ads on Mac news sites. I've found good online retailers and some great deals by following ad links. Seriously, what good is lusting over new technology unless you can quickly find out that you can't afford it?

Geek Culture is a different matter and a small portion of my tax refund will be sailing across Georgia Strait in a quest for T-shirts, posters and an "I sold my heart to the Sys Admin" fridge magnet. Has anybody else noticed that said character bears a strong resemblance to the beautiful and talented artist who created her?

One last question, as an employee of a company rather strongly affiliated with the Redmond Empire, do you think my chances of promotion would decline if I put a Bill Gates dartboard poster in my cube?

Here is why Taco is considered to be an ass by many people :

Guest326577 asks: Will there be other ways to pay (other than pay pall) ?
<hemos> Yes, there will be more ways to pay.

<CmdrTaco> Would it help if we said it in caps and bold?

<hemos> I'm currently working on that.

<CmdrTaco> Its in the FAQ. Its in the original story *twice* Next.

What a complete ass!
(Smiley added to make my comments "ok")

I like 7 layer burritos from Taco Bell... and my iBook. Ah, iBook.

Portability is the way to go.

I just realized I'm off subject. My life is off subject.
