quote: You sound like me about 11 years ago when I gave up on women. It seemed to me that all the good ones were taken and the rest ignored me no matter how I behaved/dressed/etc. One of the things I did to change my life was to stop looking for love in other people. I could probably write thousands of words about my life and all the things I've had to do, but the basis of all of it would be that I learned to love myself. I learned to accept who I am, learned to accept failure, learned to accept others for what they are. I must admit that I've had help along the way. In late 1997 I was introduced to a young woman on the internet who was deeply depressed. Nothing was right in her life and, to listen to her, nothing had ever gone right. She and I became friends and I helped her become an amazingly outgoing, confident, successful woman. I didn't change her, I simply held the light so she could see the path for herself. She has done the same for me although how I have changed seems more obvious to her than to me. My best friend in the world is not a TTB though she's definitely working at the TT part of it. Even when she loses the 100 extra pounds that are still hindering her health she won't be a babe in the eyes of many, but she's beautiful in all the ways that really matter. The people who read this will probably be surprised to learn that she and I don't live in the same country. They will probably be even more surprisd to learn that we have no plans to ever live together or marry. Our relationship transcends ordinary life and we will continue to light each other's life from afar. Right now she's pursuing a younger man at her college and I'm watching the last woman I dated find happiness with another man. We're both doing fine. I'll close with a comment related to your nickname... Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together IP: Logged |

Bregalad, that was beautiful...you brought a tear to my eye....honest to god...that was touching....my heart goes out to you for some things...but at the same time you seem to have found the inner peace and balance that many of us yearn for and still don't find.....I wish you well and good luck my friend....may you continue to live in peace and harmony.... Well, macadddickt, at least you can admit to it. Thanks for your honesty! Hey Duct Tape, if you're frustrated with guys now, just be glad you're not in my situation. Here at OSU vet school we're about 75% females, 25% males. A fairly large percentage of those guys are either married, engaged (or nearly so), or gay. And when school rules one's life to a point you rarely get away from it to meet people elsewhere, well...those aren't very nice odds. So ah...yeah. I hear ya, girl. IP: Logged |

funny, I have heard the same thing about both men and women. the fact is, men and women don't understand each other and never will. we are just programmed differently, that the way it is. the good ones are always taken because they are good. if you only wish to be friends, let them know from the beginning. you have to be direct with men, we are not good at playing the hint game. they are always going to have a crush on you, after all, you are worthy of a good one. being worthy of a good one, you have to expect all the not so good ones to want you. it only makes sence since you are among the few good ones who are not taken. or is there a reason you are not taken, there usually is unless you are still young. good ones are either taken, or too young to be taken. the good ones don't usually make it to their 30's without being taken, unless they work a job that does not allow them to get noticed (or unless they are only a good one in their own mind). I used to try to find the good ones, then I realized that I was stiinking bag of dog shit. well not literally, but compared to the good ones, I might as well be. so now I don't look at all, I just pursue fun and let the cards fall where they may. the good ones are out there, but they are almost always taken by the other good ones. so I have to agree with your thought that it is not worth the effort, it makes total sense. I no longer long for Ms. Right, I only have eyes for Ms. Right Now..........Z IP: Logged |

I think if you changed the title of the thread to 'Girls are frustrating' you would have almost the same thread Most of what has been said here can also apply to the ladies from my point of view. IP: Logged |

Well, Swiss, how about saying this; "Humans are the most confusing organisms on the face of this planet. This goes for both the female and the male gender." That ought to make it. I can agree to the point that guys are frustrating and confusing, but I'd rather be a girl and know that I'm just as confusing and frustrating as them. IP: Logged |

I have to agree, I am a guy and I said I would clean My room all the time while living at home. I have been away for several years and it didn't get cleaned 'till My little brother moved into it. We don't do everything we say we will, but then again we will promise anything if it makes females respond in a favorable way........Z IP: Logged |

Well the problem isn't that guys don't want to do everything they say, it is just that usualy they either forget or can not do whatever it is they said they would do. But I do think that girls over think us. We are usualy who we are, at leate the geeks, jocks, musicians, garbage collectors, and ummm whoever else, do. I am not sure about the "preppy" people of the world I have never been part of that croud and maybe they don't but I know that the rest of us are not complex. We tend to think about single things at a time see post "Theory: The differences between the sexes " at a time thus making it difficult to think deeply about things unless you want them be something that takes us a long time don't ask us for deep thoughts because women can bring up something in their mind and be subtasking it and having it run on a back burner for a long time but guys only have a single front burner so we boil or we are cold there realy isn't an in between in our thinking processes. So think on single topic ideas if you are trying to understand us. It takes us 60 minutes to figure out what you meant when you said that you didn't want to go to dinner tonight and we still might be wrong. If you want to go to dinner but don't want to tell us then you aren't going to dinner because we aren't mind readers and it takes litteraly years for us to get to know you well enough to find out when you are lying about going to dinner so cut us some slack we aren't good at mindreading. quote: One thing I've always wondered... what exactly did George Orwell's publisher think when he received the manuscript to 'Animal Farm'. I expect he called Orwell into his office... 'Good afternoon, George. How are you? Listen, I've just had a look at your new work... I must say... ummm... how do I phrase this... err... are you out of your frikkin' mind??? What the hell is this? Talking animals? Are you crazy? I mean, what are you smoking these days, Jamaican Marlboros? WTF???? George, I know you're an esteemed essayist and a splendid narrator, but TALKING ANIMALS??? I can't sell this crap! Go to Puffin books if you wanna write floppsy bunny stories.' One wonders. ------------------ IP: Logged |
