This was an article I found at Apple's website and has probab;y been around for quite a long time. I'm not sure if anyone has answered this already, but how did Snaggy get the name Snaggy or (Snagaleena) in the first place? I know, "Nitrozac (the ultimate anti-depressant) and Snaggy (short for Snagaleena dont ask)..." but I just had to ask. Sorry Snagaleena, if you see this! IP: Logged |

Snagaleena is the title of a song I wrote. It's about a demented old cowboy who is singing the sad, sad tale of a love gone away. His "love" just happens to be an alien who crash landed into his cabin years earlier. The two of them had a variety of adventures together, although you're never quite sure if they were real, or perhaps the result of a series of experiements the alien no doubt performed on the cowboy. Here's a snippet from the chorus... Well I had never heard of a name like Snagaleena My friend Meryn Cadell and I used to IRC a lot... she started to call me Snaggy, and the nick stuck. And that is the rest of the story. IP: Logged |

I always thought it was short for "Snagglepuss". (Oops, did I say that out loud? Quick, exit stage left ...) IP: Logged |

quote: Ahh actually the Spectators Amateur Press Society that seems to have the first documented use of the term filk in the 1950's was a futurian society and therefore probably more sci-fi than fantasy. IP: Logged |

quote: I've always heard "filk" used in conjuction with Sci-fi Fan Music. This goes back to my Compuserve 1200baud days, on the sci-fi & StartTrek forums. People would post parody song lyrics "Filkking" to the tune of .... since of course there were no MP3s or AIF or WAV files to download. (And at 1200bd, who would want to!?!) =bd 1200baud!?!? That makes my cable modem like 400 billion trillion baud? IP: Logged |
