Weather is looking good here in Oregon, hopefully it will hold out! If you can, find your way into the Moon's shadow!

I'm very jealous.
Be careful you don't lose your eyes

If you watch 'The History Of NASA' backwards, it's about a space agency that has no manned spaceflight capability, then does low-orbit flights, then lands on the Moon.

Where in Oregon were you? My wife & I drove up from Oroville, California yesterday and today watched the eclipse in a diner's parking lot just off I-5 in Albany, Oregon. After the totality part ended, we headed back home, arriving at 7:00 P.M. Stopped and had dinner at Outback in Chico.

Watched the NBC presentation, heat was the problem here 84F I made a pinhole paper plate, too much
ambient light. As a last resort I went to the tractor shed and put on my welding hood, looked like it did in 1962. If I make it to 2024 I will watch it again.

We had an amazing eclipse! Perfect weather, gorgeous corona, and mind-boggling prominences! Several differences between the last on I witnessed, in 1991, and this one, (not as many stars in sky during totality, better prominences, and this one seemed to turn the dimmer switch down faster).

Here's a quick timelapse of the totality... it seemed to go by that fast for us too!

*jealous*
I shall console myself with the knowledge that the sun was eclipsed here by a far bigger object.
We get that kind of eclipse quite regularly here.
