I've been appearing and disappearing here for some time. Life and all that.

I dropped by yesterday, and then decided to do the same again today.

In the process, I looked at my join date: June 2004. 8.5 years ago. That was an interesting time.

I remember the day I signed up. I was in the basement of the house I'd just rented in Ottawa with my (now ex) girlfriend, who turned out to be.. uh.. well that's a story for another day.

But while in Ottawa, I met my now wife, we moved back home to Waterloo region, got married, bought a house, changed jobs three or four hundred times(ish), and most important of all: had a baby. With the help of science.

Approximately 6 years ago, my wife had some horrible, horrifying health issues. The treatment for the illness caused her fertility to be pretty much destroyed. ~5 years and ~$60k later, we have our beautiful test tube baby. She was born Jan 2012, so she's just over a year old, and she's the greatest thing in the entire world.

So there's my life in the last 9 years in a nutshell.

DNF Congratulations

Just think soon your little girl will be going off to school, please instill in her the joy of learning, just for learning’s sake.

Hey drunken! Great to read you!

Congrats on your daughter! And another January baby! [thumbsup]

Wow, it seems like everyone I know is getting a test tube baby or using surrogacy!

This really brought me back to when I signed up. I had finally summoned up the courage to leave my ex-husband and was in my new condo all alone and emotionally wounded. I had developed a friendship with my software support dude who lived in Atlanta. He was always coming to the rescue when I was ready to throw my computer out the window, and I said, "You should start a company where you go around helping people with their computers/software". (This was pre "Geek Squad")

So, I looked up "Geek" or "rent a geek", or something like that, and came across GC.

I was drawn to a haunting post by someone else recovering from a break-up, and...the rest is history;)

Glad to see this place is still around-great job, Snaggy!

hmmm my life as I arrived at geek culture.

Six months after I graduated from college I emigrated to Switzerland. I found this place as a place to chat/ interact in english as I didn't really speak enough germen yet to interact with those around me.
