I recieved som interesting spam today.

quote:
Dear Colleague,

My name is Dr. M. Sivakumar, editor, Scientific Research and Essays (www.academic journals.org/SRE).

We received a manuscript: Utilization of Solid Wastes in Construction Materials – A Review. We will be most grateful if you could find time to review the manuscript.

Please find attached is the full manuscript (SRE-10-235), instruction for authors as well as the reviewer’s guide. You may present your evaluations the way you deem fit. If you wish to correct parts of the manuscript itself, please indicate your corrections with a different color (for example, red for addition and blue for deletion).

I am looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Dr. M. Sivakumar

My ego wants me to think that this was targeted spam, though it is probably not.

They seem to allow alot of freedom to reviews ( i.e. change what I want, just make it a different color.)

I wonder if this is a joke. The name of the paper is nothing less than "building with Sh!ite".

____ Ash, Hormel must be feeling like they are getting high end knock offs at this point. This is interesting though.

____ If I am in a vengeful mood I reply to spam, that wants me to pay some fee to get money with this as the preamble.

No I can not help you, In fact I have forwarded your contact info to our local Sheriff for prosecution.

____ I hope that a few have soiled their pants, but I really doubt that. My biggest hope is that they inncur costs to change ISPs.

Indeed... this will get them a lot of info from basic users who won't know better... I know this is not the place to say it, but people: if you receive such a warning, do take the two minutes needed to check directly with your service's web site. If you can't find it quickly, chances are it's fake!

Heh. I know. But the regular Internet user would not, and would not know why so; so one might still be confused. Unfortunately, there is no course necessary before getting an Internet access, so there is no way to teach them that, or even just the "check with reliable sources" general warning.

So there will always be people who will get caught up. What a pity...

The thing seems to be, this guy can beat all the spam filters just by spamming for something no-one else has ever spammed for. ( my gmail has always let these through, that is why I see them)

This gives me a great idea, If I start spamming people selling something no-one else has ever sold before with spam email, I can beat most all the filters and make millions.

I am thinking about doing cookie spam. The local store sells some great chocolate chip cookies. ( white chocolate with dried canberries).

They taste great, are addictive, have a long shelf life so I can send them through the mail, and best of all, I have cannot ever remember getting spam email about chocolate chip cookies.

It's interesting you say that, since the only piece of spam I have ever been tempted to open was intriguingly titled: "Come. I have ice cream!"
