Just finished reading some lists from Radio 4's Desert Island Discs. (If you haven't heard of it, a celebrity is interviewed and says the 8 songs they'd take to a desert island.)

So what eight discs would you take?

This. (I'm seeing the stage version in December! Woot)

I don't know what my discs would be, but my luxury item might have to be an iPad.

I say a little prayer - Aretha Franklin
Shelter - Rolling Stones
Back in the USSR - Beatles
While my guitar gently weeps - Beatles

____ I have a few questions, On this desert Island will there be power? The music choices change with the quality of the sound reproduction system. Eight songs? Or eight CDs I could burn 420mins of music that could keep me happy for a long time.

Dovorak New World
Mozart French Horn Concertos
Richard Rogers Victory at Sea
Bob Segar Ballads
Some Charlotte Church
Some Enya
Some Taylor Swift
Pants on the ground.

Eight songs or Eight CDs I would prefer reel to reel tapes.

____ Will our cell phones work if so I would want this app, to run. Linky

Mo Man, I'm sure there is a big solar panel for your battery re-charging

Morrison - Moon Dance
Something by Pete Seeger
Flogging Molly - Swagger
Christine Lavine - Attainable Love
Something by Clark Terry
Self picked CD by Johnny Cash
Something Bhangra
Something by Zepplin

I'm waffling over this list already, so I hope there is a raft so I can swap out CDs.
My book - Dragonbone Chair by Williams

Pants on the Ground
Whats a-matter you? - Joe Dolce
The Birdie song
Never Met a Nice South African -- Spitting Image
That frog-motorcycle annoying thing... as a ringtone
Save your love, my darling -- Renee and Renato
Anything atonal and screechy by Yoko Ono
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds -- William Shatner

... I figure any song's gonna get irratating after a few hundred plays, anyway -- might as well start annoying the wildlife from the get-go.

For a book I would almost certainly take Neil Gaiman's "American Gods".

Songs are harder, but my list would go something like:

"Ants Marching"- Dave Matthews Band
"Me and Bobby McGee"- Janis Joplin
"Mr. Tambourine Man"- Bob Dylan
"Fairytale of New York"- The Pogues
"Shanti Mantra"- Ravi Shankar
"Under Pressure"- Queen/David Bowie
"Moby Dick"- Led Zeppelin (the 20 minute live one)
"Birdhouse in Your Soul"- They Might Be Giants

--------------------
Things, and things.
