I'm in a songwriting class. We had an assignment to write a Verse/Chorus song that contained a "rise" or Pre-Chorus section. I fell ill this week with a nasty flu, so I decided to base my song on that. Also, I recorded it as an MP3 and sent it to my professor so that he knows I'm not slacking off when I'm not there tomorrow.

Since I already had the MP3, I put it up on the interwebs to share with all of you!! Let me know what you think.

Swine Flu MP3 (~3.5MB)

Pardon the rough recording, it's still kinda' beta-ish; I recorded it quickly in one take. Also, I realize this song isn't exactly going to be my magnum opus....

Hey Tamiflu rhymes, how about a line in third verse.

My husband is listening to this with me and just about fell out of his chair. He says he heard something similar in Serbian a couple years ago about bird flu.

Richard, I thought the same thing!

No offence, Mr. Mac Man. It is still a fine song! And even better for a sick man!

Swine flu, swine flu.

It's not for the birds. It's for you.

You can't bring home the bacon.

So what else are you going to do?

Please write more songs for us Mr. Mac Man!

You have a nice voice and a smile in your lyrics.

Now, do you have an answer, for my prostate cancer?

Mr. Geek 2u!

MMKK - excellent song! [Applause] [Applause]

A very slight touch of Roger Waters in the melody, but that is no bad thing. You have a nice voice too. I'm impressed. [Smile]

Well, I wouldn't be committing perjury, if I said the answer was surgery!

Hope you don't mind a little rhyming fun, Mr. Geek 2U - you have my best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks for the kind comments, everybody. [Big Grin]

I'm kind of proud of this one, it seems well received.

Nice work! Clever lyrics to an appropriately mellow tune with classic rock ballad overtones, as previously noted.

Keep up the good work and be well!
